Colin Farrell's The Penguin is reaching its finale with just two episodes left to conclude Oz Cobb or Penguin's position in Gotham City. Soon after the Riddler's flood followed by crime boss Carmine Falcone's death in The Batman movie, Penguin decides to take over the underworld and become the next mob boss.

Coming straight from Matt Reeves' take on the Caped Crusader's story, The Penguin kicked off a week after Pattinson's film. Additionally, the murder of Alberto Falcone on November 13, 2022 in the spin-off also clarifies that the miniseries follows the same timeline.

The Batman takes place on Halloween as it opens with a creepy sound and the murder of Mayor Don Mitchell Jr. at the hands of Riddler. The events were concluded by the start of November 2022, when Falcone died, thus leaving a power gap in the city.

The Batman's direct spin-off The Penguin continues to build excitement for the finale and how its events will set the stage for Pattionson's upcoming film in Reeves' Batman universe. The first episode begins with Oz initiating his plans to rise in power, but they are disrupted as Sofia Falcone is back from Arkham Asylum.

As seen in the previous episodes, Oz aims to become the next crime boss of Gotham City since the Caped Crusader is currently staying out of his plan. But, not for long, as he'll be back in The Batman Part II which will also connect with the events of The Penguin when Oz takes on the lead as the key villain.

But, before the season ends and sets the stage for the next installment, here's a detailed explanation of the timeline in order:

Setting the stage with The Batman 2022: Robert Pattinson's film kicks off with Riddler's first target being killed, leading Batman to step into action. The Dark Knight begins his investigation against the killer and his motives and takes a week to dig into his plan.

November 5, 2022 – The Batman’s climax: As seen in the climax, Riddler succeeds in setting off multiple bombs along Gotham’s sea wall, leading to a huge flood in the city. Meanwhile, Batman tries to face off against the foe's followers tasked with harming the civilians at the Gotham Square Garden arena.

November 6, 2022 – The aftermath: The next day, on November 6, Batman helped the survivors of the flooded area, while Penguin enjoyed the view from Falcone's private lounge. The film ended up making room for its first spin-off.

The Penguin Series Begins: The first episode begins with Penguin excited to take charge of the underworld and makes his first move by killing Alberto Falcone on November 13, just a week after Batman's events.

This way, the miniseries followed a smooth timeline and continued to engage fans as we see Sofia finally ditching her father's surname and embracing her mother's maiden name, and is now called Sofia Gigante.

She aims to build an empire of her own and emerge as a ruthless and powerful figure in the underworld. Meanwhile, Oz is taking control of the drug business and plotting against his enemies.

Yes, you read it right. Pattionson's The Batman and Farrell's The Penguin exist out of the main DCU timeline, as they are a part of the DC Elseworlds. Their events are set in an alternate universe that doesn't link directly to the main DCU, which is set for a reboot under James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The second part of The Batman is scheduled for a 2026 release, and The Penguin's events will perfectly bridge the gap between the two installments.

The Gotham criminal underworld is currently developing, as the next film is set for notable confrontations and an action-packed narrative.
