Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is akin to a grand family adventure that is reminiscent of the best of the Star Wars franchise. The first two episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew premiered on December 3, 2024, and kickstarted what seems to be a promising mashup between the best of Amblin and Star Wars. Stars Wars: Skeleton Crew is set in the aftermath of Return of the Jedi and before the fall of the Empire.
The final moments of the premiere of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew brought the audience face-to-face with a discovery that is poised to play a determining role in the narrative. It all happens, of course, due to Wim - the central character of the show, and a young boy who calls the planet At Attin his home. He aspires to empathize and help others in the fashion of the knights of the Jedi Order.
One day, Wim was walking through what he believed was a shortcut route to his school. All of a sudden, he came across what he initially believed to be a Jedi temple, but it soon turned out to be one of the best spaceships of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew - also known as an Onyx Cinder. Here's everything we know.
The Onyx Cinder from Stars Wars: Skeleton Crew, details revealed
From the outset, the first two episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew do not explicitly mention the type of class of ship that the Onyx Cinder is. It isn't clear how or when the spaceship came to be where it was found by Wim.
Initially, Wim is considered to have discovered a forgotten Jedi temple. He knew his mistake when, after gathering a derelict Star Wars droid and hitting the ignition, the spaceship roaringly blasted off into the air!
Unlike the other ships featured in Star Wars, the Onyx Cinder does not have a recognizable designation. On the other hand, the droid SM 33 reveals that the ship once belonged to intergalactic pirates who used it for shady proceedings before eventually dumping it at At Attin. Thereafter, it would be no wonder if the Onyx Cinder was assembled from the bits and parts belonging to a wide range of vessels.
The Onyx Cinder is medium and comparable to the Razor Crest from The Mandalorian. Its black hull is painted with numerous white stripes. It contains a hyperdrive and runs on six engines. The engines have added rotational capability so as to allow a smooth landing.
Additionally, the Onyx Cinder has two turret guns atop its hull to prepare for space combat. It is possible that the ship was around during the High Republic era and eventually was left stranded in At Attin. However, we don't really know for sure until Star Wars: Skeleton Crew sheds more light in this direction.
Who is Wim from Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
Wim is the pivotal character of the show and is played by actor Ravi Cabot-Conyers. He is portrayed as a starry-eyed young boy who wishes to leave his sleepy suburban town behind in favor of untold adventures and exploration.
Judging by how the Onyx Cinder set the ball rolling, we might expect Wim to command the ship someday with his crew and finally realize his pursuit of adventure.
