What We Do in the Shadows season 6 episode 9 recap: Eternal Lifetime Achievement Award turns deadly

What We Do in the Shadows season 6 episode 9 begins with the Staten Island vampires getting ready for the Baron Afanas’ big night. The Baron is receiving the Eternal Lifetime Achievement Award, attended by vampires from all over New York, from Lower East Side people to the Hamptons elites.

However, things take a bizarre turn when Jerry, the award organizer, insults The Baron on stage instead of presenting him with a trophy. Nadja then stands up for The Baron, but before anything is resolved, Cravensworth’s Monster crushes Jerry’s head and kills him.

The other vampires think the Staten Island crew plotted Jerry’s murder, so the group is forced to run away while a crowd of angry vampires chase them. The chase leads them across New York and the crew runs into several strange vampire gangs, from baseball-themed vampires to breakdancing ’80s vampires.

The Staten Island vampires deal with increasing troubles

While the crew escapes from the vampire mobs, their personal problems begin to show up in What We Do in the Shadows season 6 episode 9. Nadja is upset with Laszlo because he secretly trained Cravensworth’s Monster to protect her. She feels like he does not understand that she can handle herself.

Nadja reminds him that she has already defeated werewolves before. Laszlo tells her that he can not live without her, and the two let go of their differences. Nadja takes out her frustration by smashing a vampire’s head into the ground.

Meanwhile, Nandor deals with his issues. He awkwardly tells The Guide that he has feelings for her, but she kindly rejects him. She reminds him that he has a habit of getting obsessed with people and then moving on when he wins them over.

On the other hand, Guillermo, who has been spending time with his cousin Miguel, finally tells him about his life as a vampire hunter and servant. When Miguel finds out Guillermo’s friends are vampires, he decides to help them. Guillermo and Miguel join the crew to fight off vampire baristas at a coffee shop.

Are the vampires going to be able to return to Staten Island in What We Do in the Shadows?

After a crazy night, the vampires are finally able to make it back home to Staten Island with Miguel’s help. However, their problems are far from over. The Baron confronts them about Jerry’s death. He is upset that he did not get the chance to kill Jerry himself.

At the same time, The Guide feels guilty and tries to sacrifice herself, but Nandor stops her. The Baron eventually decides to spare them all, saying enough vampires have died that night.

The next night, the Baron holds another event where he reassures the vampires that he is still in charge. While things finally seem to calm down, Cravensworth’s Monster accidentally kills another vampire by the end of the episode.
