Squid Game season 2 has arrived on Netflix and is already breaking streaming viewership records. However, with great viewership comes great scrutiny as some fans notice each and every minute detail in the show.
Eagle-eyed viewers have noticed a blooper in the second season, surprising everyone. In the final episode, Friend or Foe, a cameraman is visible briefly during an intense sequence.
Though he makes a blink-and-miss appearance in the scene, the Squid Game cameraman is clearly visible when the video is paused. The moment has now gone viral on social media and is receiving hilarious responses from fans.
Squid Game cameraman blooper goes viral on social media
The blooper occurs in the seventh episode of Squid Game season 2. As the players, led by Gi-hun, start their rebellion against the organizers, a shootout happens between them and the guards in their dorm room.
During the high-octane sequence, just when Player 120 Hyun-ji shoots a guard, a cameraman is seen at the right corner of the frame. He is visible at the 22 minutes and 39 seconds mark in episode 7. The moment is brief and could have been missed by fans had the show not been this popular.
Seeing a crew member can sometimes take away the authentic feel of a show, and hence, the production team spends a great amount of time checking the final edit of the series. However, such brief bloopers can still occur from time to time.
In 2019, HBO’s hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones featured a similar error as a Starbucks cup was seen placed on a table in one of the scenes of the final season. Similarly, a plastic bottle was caught in a promotional picture for ITV’s historical drama Downton Abbey in 2014.
The Squid Game cameraman gets a hilarious response from viewers
Ever since the scene went viral on social media, fans have been busy making jokes about it on platforms like Reddit and X. Keeping up with the theme of the show, one viewer quipped on Reddit:
“Show Editor 457…has been eliminated.”
Another joked:
“So it’s true that the cameraman never dies, not even through squid games.”
A third wrote:
“You do know that Squid Games is just a reality TV show right....so you might see a cameraman or two.”
Meanwhile, others are surprised over how a company like Netflix could allow such a blunder. A fan wrote on X:
“Multi million dollar company btw.”
One fan also penned:
“They rushed the release so it was out before 2025. It happened in Editing so it's their fault. Not the camera guy’s fault.”
Despite the blooper, Squid Game season 2 keeps the audience hooked with its thrilling story, high-stakes drama, and various twists and turns. The new season picks up after the previous installment’s finale and follows Gi-hun as he goes on a mission to stop the games by participating in them again.
However, the mission goes awry soon, and he once again finds himself amid bloodshed and deadly challenges. The Korean survival thriller series has already been renewed for a third and final season, which will premiere this year.
The show stars Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun, Lee Byung-hun as Hwang In-ho, Wi Ha-joon as Hwang Jun-ho, Lee Seo-hwan as Jung-bae, Gong Yoo as the recruiter, Park Gyu-young as Kang No-eul, Lee Jin-wook as Park Gyeong-seok, Park Sung-hoon as Cho Hyun-ju, and Im Si-wan as Lee Myung-gi.
Squid Game season 3 will be released on Netflix sometime in 2025.
