Netflix has just released the trailer for its upcoming series, The Four Seasons. It is based on the 1981 movie of the same name and follows the story closely. The trailer reveals an interesting ensemble of actors: Tina Fey, Will Forte, Steve Carell, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Colman Domingo, and Marco Calvani.

The series is set to be released on May 1, 2025. Much like the movie, The Four Seasons series will focus on three couples as they go on four trips during the four seasons of the year. We will get to see their relationship dynamics, both romantic and platonic. The official description, according to Tudum by Netflix, reads,

''Six old friends head out for a relaxing weekend away only to learn that one couple in the group is about to split up. The three couples – Kate (Fey) and Jack (Forte), Nick (Carell) and Anne (Kenney-Silver), and Danny (Domingo) and Claude (Calvani) – are completely upended by the news.''

The Four Seasons miniseries by Netflix

The Four Seasons is created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield. As we mentioned before, the series follows the movie closely with minor changes. Other than being a co-creator, Tina Fey stars as Kate in The Four Seasons. Speaking about the upcoming series, Fey said to Tudum by Netflix,

“I hope audiences feel like they are inside a big sweater with us, and also having a dinner party with us, and I hope that any of the joy and warmth that we all feel for each other all transfers to them, and that we are a comfort and provide some laughs for them in their home.”

It is evident from the trailer that Steve Carrell and Kerri Kenney-Silver play Nick and Anne in the series, the couple who separate and get a divorce in the movie. The same happens in the series, and Nick speaks about his failing marriage, saying,

“We sit in the same room monitoring different screens. We’re like co-workers at a nuclear facility.”

The Four Seasons series has other similarities with the film. In the trailer, Danny (played by Colman Domingo) complains about Claude (played by Marco Calvani) to Kate, saying,

''Claude lives in his own opera. This particular one is many hours long.''

The scene cuts to a past moment as a reference to Danny's complaint where Claude asks Danny,

''I'm Italian. What kind of a husband are you, tell me?''

This scene is very similar to the one in the 1981 film, in which Danny is tired of Claudia's insensitivity to others and the way she defends herself by blaming it on her heritage. In the film, Claudia, played by Rita Moreno, says the same line,

"I'm Italian!"

The Four Seasons series trailer also shows us how Nick moves on after his divorce and starts dating Ginny (played by Erika Henningsen, his ''dental hygienist''). She is much younger than the rest of the group, and they are not a big fan of Nick dating her after his and Anne's divorce. Kate reacts to it like any other friend whose friends have recently divorced, asking her husband, Jack,

''I get it. She's young and hot, right?''

Jack (played by Will Forte) doesn't want to say the wrong thing and responds,

''I don't see a ton of upside in me answering that.''

The Four Seasons arrives on Netflix on May 1!
