In just a few days, fans will be reintroduced to the deadly tasks in Squid Game Season 2, set to bring back Player 456 or Seong Gi-hun as he tries to warn the participants not to fall for the money and save themselves. The series debuted on Netflix in 2021 and took no time to become the streamer's most-watched show that year, with billions of views in the first week.

This survival drama is created by Hwang Dong-hyuk and features a talented cast of South Korean actors like Heo Sung Tae (The Age of Shadows), Wi Ha-joon (Moonlight), Lee Yoo-mi (Strong Girl Naam-soon), and more. The series begins with 456 financially desperate people who participate in deadly versions of children’s games only to stand a chance to win a whopping prize money.

As the series begins, players get eliminated in deadly ways during each of the games, including Red Light, Green Light, Marbles, Marbles, The Glass Bridge, and finally, the Squid Game. Now, in Season 2, new players will step into this game and fight not only for the money but survival.

Anticipation is high among fans as they wonder if Seong Gi-hun will be able to save the players and expose the origin of the game. So, make sure you don't miss out on his quest as Squid Game Season 2 will hit Netflix on December 26, 2024, at 12.00 am PT/3.00 am ET.

Unlike Season 1, the upcoming season will only have seven episodes as the Hwang Dong-hyuk identified a major cliffhanger in Episode 7 that would lead to the events of the final chapter. However, the creator also felt exhausted and overwhelmed during the process and even joked about wanting to escape to a remote island for some peace.

"I’m so exhausted. I’m so tired. In a way, I have to say, I’m so sick of ‘Squid Game... I’m just thinking about going to some remote island and having my own free time without any phone calls from Netflix."

While Hwang Dong-hyuk remains grateful for the series' reception, he could feel the pressure of making another hit project. However, this isn't the first time the creator was under pressure, as he reportedly lost "eight or nine" teeth during the first season's shoot. Now, with the enormous expectations surrounding Season 2, the stakes—and pressure—are even higher.
