Gothic author Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles is getting another adaptation called The Talamasca, which will also be the third installment in AMC's Immortal Universe.
Two of Rice's previous works have already been adapted to the screen, namely, Interview With The Vampire (October 2, 2022) and Mayfair Witches (January 8, 2023). Now, a third series with six episodes is on its way.
AMC's Immortal Universe continues expanding, with Mayfair Witches Season 2 debuting on January 5, 2025. Following this, the network has released a 10-second teaser for the third show, The Talamasca, featuring Downton Abbey's Elizabeth McGovern as Helen, saying, 'We watch the witches.'
The show is based on The Order of Talamasca, a secret organization that appears in various Rice novels, formed by supernatural detectives. The show's cast includes McGovern, Nicholas Denton as Guy Anatole, William Fichtner as Jasper, and Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Olive.

Exploring how the shows are connected
AMC's Immortal Universe is a series of shows based on Anne Rice's series of gothic novels under The Vampire Chronicles. Several books have been published in this series, adapted by AMC under the Immortal Universe.
While The Talamasca is not exactly based on a specific book, it is a secret organization within the show's universe. This third installment could also open the doors for a crossover between the previous two shows as Talamascas were initially introduced in them. They are the binding force present in every book that can be used for a potential crossover.
A future crossover is possible after the third series because Talamasca agents appear in multiple Rice books. For instance, Talamasca head David Talbot appears in many books and later becomes Merrick Mayfair's lover. While he is yet to be introduced in the shows, an agent called Ciprien Grieve appears in Mayfair Witches and might also appear in the third series, initiating a crossover.
What is the secret society of The Talamasca? Exploring its origins
In Rice's The Witching Hour, The Order of Talamasca dates back to the 11th century, but it might have existed before that, too, with a different name. It is a secret society formed by paranormal/supernatural detectives who monitor and investigate paranormal beings like witches, vampires, and werewolves.
The organization is tasked with safeguarding and keeping these paranormal beings' existence hidden to protect harmony and create a cosmic balance. Since no dedicated novel exists for the organization, its history and origins are contradictory, but AMC's The Talamasca might provide answers about its formation.
For instance, according to Rice's Prince Lestat, the organization was formed by Teskhamen, aka the God of the Grove, who recruited some members who became the elders and recruited more members on the way.
The Talamasca was reported to have begun shooting in October 2024, so it is expected to arrive somewhere by fall 2025, just in time for the spooky season. There is no release date as of yet.
