Gabriel Basso, who plays the lead in the popular Netflix show The Night Agent, has got everyone talking about what's next after the ending of Season 2. He talked to The Wrap in 2025, and said the upcoming season is going to be "mind-blowing." He was especially hyped about his character, Peter Sutherland, and how he has gotten himself into trouble.

At the end of The Night Agent Season 2, Peter had to deal with the mess he made after letting a witness go and taking some secret info. This all happened because he was trying to help his friend, Rose, who was played by Luciane Buchanan. But, it caused a huge scene that even affected who became the president!

Basso said that the whole show is about Peter's emotional journey, and how he is dealing with the fact that he is a lot like the father he can't stand. The show's creator, Shawn Ryan, said that these family themes are super personal for him because they're based on his own life with his dad.

They have already started shooting The Night Agent Season 3, and it sounds like it's going to be just as full of surprises as the first two.

Peter’s feelings go awry in The Night Agent Season 2

Throughout The Night Agent Season 2, Peter Sutherland faced tough moral decisions. He did his best to stop a nasty chemical weapons attack planned by a villain named Viktor Bala, but things didn't go as smoothly as he hoped. His choices ended up causing a huge mess, like accidentally messing with the results of a presidential election. Poor Peter feels the weight of what he's done, and he is on the hunt for a way to make things right.

Then, in an intense scene, Catherine Weaver sits him down and tells him something that hits him hard. She points out that he is kind of following in his dad's footsteps, making the same mistakes. This makes Peter stop and think about his hang-ups and the grudges he has been carrying around.

So, Peter decides to take on the risky job as a double agent, aka a spy playing for two teams at once. And, who is guiding him through this mess on The Night Agent? None other than the wise and mysterious, Catherine Weaver, played by Amanda Warren.

As Basso told TheWrap:

“He doesn’t want to be his father, but maybe that’s not a bad thing.”

The Night Agent stands out as it takes a closer look at generational patterns and the tough choices people make in intense situations, making it much more than just another typical action show.

Shawn Ryan, who is behind the scenes, points out that the heart of the series is Peter's bond with his dad. It is the “core emotional anchor” that makes the spy story feel relatable. For the upcoming season, we can expect it to go into Peter's head, seeing how his past keeps influencing the path ahead of him.

The Night Agent Season 3 teasers

The Night Agent is good at telling complex stories, and for Season 3, they are planning to go even further. The first episode, which has some scenes shot in the city of Istanbul, promises to blow our minds with action that is off the charts.

Gabriel Basso talked about how these scenes are going to be:

“Accidentally mind-blowing.”

According to The Wrap, some spontaneous stuff happening while filming spiced up the story.

In The Night Agent Season 3, Peter's got his hands full being a double agent. He is all in with Monroe's crew, trying to figure out how deep their friendship with Governor Hagan goes. It is not just about secret handshakes and whispers anymore; it's full-blown national security and who Peter can trust. Rose ended Season 2 on a sad note, with her taking off to California to get back to regular life. It's like she's living the dream Peter gave up on.

Now, everyone is curious if Noor's coming back. She was a key character in Season 2, and her story is not wrapped up. She's got a new life in New York after getting asylum, and it'd be great to see her work with Peter and Rose again.

Bala's chemical weapon mess and Monroe's political games are still a big part of the picture. It's all setting the stage for a nail-bitingly good season.

Seasons 1 and 2 of The Night Agent are on Netflix.
