Produced by Glitch Productions, The Amazing Digital Circus is the latest independent animated web series for adults on Netflix. The series is categorised as a psychological dark comedy genre.

The Amazing Digital Circus is directed, written, and created by Gooseworx. The creator of the series was inspired by computer-generated imagery from the 1990s. Having received a nomination for Annie Awards, the series is known for its dark themes and animation.

The show is also grounded in I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, a short story written by Harlan Ellison, an American writer. While the production for the series first began in 2022, Glitch Productions released the first episode of the series on its YouTube channel in October 2023.

Less than a year since its release, the pilot episode of the show has already garnered 346 million views on YouTube. Post its release, the first episode of the series was known to be the most watched animated series pilot on YouTube.


When was The Amazing Digital Circus released ?

The Amazing Digital Circus released its first three episodes on October 4, 2024 on Netflix as well as YouTube. The rest of the episodes from episode four to episode nine are also scheduled to release on Netflix and Youtube.

Netflix has collaborated with Glitch productions in a licensing only deal, the production company clarified the following on X,

"And to be clear; We're still independently funding everything, we still get full control of the show, and episodes will continue to come out ALWAYS on YouTube first."

The series tells the story of humans, Gangle, Jax, Ragatha, Zooble, Pomni, and Kinger who find themselves trapped in a digital circus. The amazing digital circus is a virtual reality game run by its ringmaster Caine, who is an unpredictable artifical intelligence.

The humans have no choice but to obey the whims of the AI ringmaster. Risking their mental balance and their existence turning into digital abominations, the humans embark on adventures. According to Glitch productions, the series poses the question,

"What if it was Toy Story, but everyone was a jerk?"

Who is in the cast of The Amazing Digital Circus ?

The cast of the series features Pomni. Pomni's avatar is a jester and is the latest human to be stuck in the circus. Alex Rochon plays Caine, who is the whimsical AI ringmaster of the circus.

Michael Kovach plays the role of Jax, who is a humanoid rabbit. He is known for fooling and bullying others. Amanda Hufford plays the role of Ragatha, who is a rag doll. She tries her best to keep a positive attitude and remains kind to others.

Marissa Lenti voices Gangle, an avatar made with ribbons and has comedy and tragedy masks depending on her mood. Sean Chiplock voices Kinger, who is a king chess piece with a king's robe and has been in the circus the longest. He has lost his sanity and only becomes sane again when in dark spaces.

An avatar made of different blocks throughout the episodes, Ashley Nichols voices Zooble, who is grouchy and does not care for Caine's instructions. Gooseworx voices Bubble, who is the ringmaster's soap bubble assistant.
