Arcane, an adult animated steampunk action-adventure series, is back on Netflix with Season 2. The show follows the story of two sisters, Vi and Jinx, who find themselves on opposite spectrums after the war between the city of Piltover and the undercity Zaun.
Silco was an important leader of the undercity Zaun in Season 1, who wanted it to be independent of Piltover. He considered Vander his brother and partner in this revolution against Piltover, but he eventually betrayed him.
He later took Jinx under his wing, whom he considered like a daughter, and wished to become the leader of a free Zaun. However, Silco is killed in Arcane Season 1 by Jinx following a misunderstanding.
Silco's last words to Jinx were, "Don't cry. You're perfect," which validated her doubts about her changed identity from Powder to Jinx and motivated her to free the nation of Zaun.
More about Silco's death and its impact on Arcane Season 2.
What were Silco's goals for the nation of Zaun? How did he die in Arcane Season 1?
After Vander's betrayal, Silco was even more determined to free the undercity of Zaun. He managed to kill Vander and take Jinx under his wing as his daughter, who would help him in his mission to secure the nation.
He also managed to become the undercity's drug kingpin and supplied the people with the drug Shimmer, which transformed its users into powerful monsters.
Silco is the overarching antagonist in the show, who will stop at nothing to free Zaun and become its leader. He becomes a drug lord and gets all the Zaunites addicted to it to fund his illegal ventures.
Silco approached Jayce with a list of demands to end the feud between Piltover and Zaun. Jayce agreed, but on the condition that Silco hand Jinx over to them for the crimes she had committed.
However, Jinx overhears this and assumes Silco will hand her over to Jayce. She already has doubts about her identity change from Powder. Jinx then kidnaps Silco in Arcane Season 1, Vi and Caitlin.
When Silco fires to kill Vi, Jinx accidentally fires the gun and fatally shoots Silco, who falls to his death. A guilty Jinx runs over to him.
Silco tells Jinx he never thought about handing her over to Jayce because he knows what betrayal is. He has always considered her his daughter and believes she should fight for Zaun's freedom.
Silco then succumbs to his death and dies in Arcane.
How did Silco's death set Arcane Season 2?
Silco's death changed Zaun's fate forever, and Jinx became the new leader of the Independence movement.
However, without Silco, the supply of Shimmer will drastically stop. Since he has gotten almost the whole population addicted to it, Zaun will be filled with an overflow of addicts in withdrawal.
While Jinx and Sevika have stepped in to fill Silco 's shoes, the nation of Zaun is not ready to fight against Piltover (which is filled with addicts) if it declares war.
After Jinx bombs the Piltover Council in the Arcane Season 1 finale, a war between the two nations is inevitable. With an unstable Jinx and a lack of leadership and technology, the fate of Zaun is highly disastrous in Season 2.
Since Season 2 is the final season, the war will finally conclude, but not before fans witness the falling of Zaun after Silco's death.
Arcane Season 2 first three episodes are available to stream on Netflix.
