Star Wars: Skeleton Crew marks Disney+’s latest collaboration with Lucasfilm, expanding the Star Wars universe. The series takes place during the same timeline as The Mandalorian and is created by Christopher Ford and Jon Watts, writer of Spider-Man: Homecoming and director of MCU's Spider-Man trilogy, respectively.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is a coming-of-age story thematically and follows a group of young children, Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), KB (Kyriana Kratter), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), and Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) as they go on a galaxy-spanning adventure after stumbling upon something out of the ordinary.

The protagonists of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew are from the planet At Attin, which, though looks peaceful on the surface, seems to have secrets of its own. Creators Ford and Watts have described At Attin as

"the crown jewel of the Old Republic."

Such a description has naturally sparked much curiosity among the fans, who have started to speculate different theories about the place. Let us now explore in detail what At Attin is in the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew universe.

What is At Attin in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

In the first episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, viewers are introduced to At Attin, the planet where the show's protagonists live. At first glance, it seems like Earth, a peaceful suburban neighborhood with no connection to the rest of the galaxy.

However, it is only when the show progresses that the viewers understand how gravely disconnected this planet really is. A Republican government runs the planet and trains the young population so that they can serve their community like their previous generations did.

Despite looking normal, At Attin has something off about its existence. Following the fall of the Empire, this planet is still training its young people to serve the “great work,” something not done by other Republics in the Star Wars universe.

A major revelation that comes in the second episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is that Old Republic credits are used at At Attin. While using the credit that his father gave him, Wim and Neel realize that their money is insanely valuable.

This revelation also shows that At Attin was never controlled by the Empire because, in that case, the Old Republic credits would have been confiscated and replaced by new Imperial currency. It also suggests that At Attin never had a New Republic, either.

Fern and KB also learn that the galaxy they landed on believes At Attin only to be a myth and thinks of it as the legendary lost planet that holds treasure.

What is At Attin’s mystery on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew?

While Disney+ series and Star Wars movies have previously introduced new planets and Lucasfilm has also canonized locations from different legendary lore, At Attin on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is different.

In terms of culture and aesthetics, At Attin is uncannily similar to Earth and does not really seem alien. Moreover, droids hold most of the public service jobs here. The kids of At Attin also have little knowledge about the galaxy but seem to know much more about Jedis and ancient Jedi temples.

However, it is also true that the galaxy also knows very little about At Attin and believes it to be a mythical planet holding priceless treasures. It is absolutely possible that Unknown Regions is the origin of At Attin, and either the Empire or the Republic wants it to remain hidden and isolated. Its mythical status can be a result of that plan.

With new episodes lined up for every week, it will be interesting to see how At Attin has been hidden and how it is connected to the Star Wars universe since Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has been confirmed to be following the New Republic timeline.

The first two episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew can be streamed on Disney+, and new episodes will be released every Tuesday.
