Sally Struthers is currently seen on Netflix's A Man on the Inside as Virginia, a resident where Charles goes undercover. Struthers is an American actress and activist who has worked in the industry since the 1970s. She got her breakthrough role in the sitcom All in the Family.

She had her breakthrough role in All in the Family in the 1970s as Gloria Stivic, the daughter of Archie and Edith Bunker. She won two Emmy Awards for the sitcom. Norman Lear, the producer of the sitcom, found her dancing on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.
In 1977, she also starred in the soap Intimate Stranger, a movie on domestic violence. It was a progressive theme to be depicted in those times and was the network's first portrayal of domestic abuse.

Sally plays Virginia's role in the new Netflix comedy series. She develops a crush on Charles, who is posing as a resident in their retirement home. Virginia is flirty with Charles, and her character is portrayed for comic relief in the show.
Her closeness and attention towards Charles make her on-and-off boyfriend Elliot mad, and he declares Charles as his 'sexual rival.'
Sally's character in A Man on the Inside is modeled after Berta from The Mole Agent. Since the comedy show is based on this 2020 documentary, it only made sense that it included some of the original characters.
However, there is one difference between these characters: Berta never had a relationship within the nursing home and was never married before. She also developed an instant crush on Sergio like Virginia in A Man on the Inside.
These similarities make one think that Virginia is based on Berta's character from the documentary.
