Amazon Prime Video's action thriller series, Reacher, based on Lee-Child's book Persuader, has kicked off its third season.

This season introduces a new villain, Zachary Beck, played by actor Anthony Michael Hall. Hall is best known for his work in Sixteen Candles, Halloween Kills, The Breakfast Club and The Dark Knight.

Exploring Anthony Michael Hall's character in Reacher Season 3

Anthony Hall plays the character of Zachary Beck in Reacher Season 3, who is a big businessman and an importer of rugs. But in reality, his rug business is a ruse for the various criminal activities he operates.

Episodes 1-3 establish Zach as a mastermind who DEA agent Duffy wants to take down. She had also sent one of her agents, Teresa, undercover in Zach's operation to bring the criminal down.

Season 3 opens with Jack trying to infiltrate Zach's operation; the most obvious way to do this is by gaining his trust. After Zach's wife, who passed away a while back, the most valuable person in his life is his 20-year-old son, Richard.

Episode 1 saw Jack planning a fake kidnapping for Richard and then rescuing him from this said kidnapping. Since Jack bought Zack's son safe for him, he becomes a kind of hero in his eyes and gets entry into his house and operations.

While Jack gets entry into Zach's 'business,' he still can't get enough information because of his head of security, Duke, who does not let him in on any secrets because he actually works for Quinn.

Since Reacher's main aim is to take Quinn out, he doesn't shy away from executing Duke and taking his place as Zach's head of security. While Zach thinks that his operation is under his control, his every action is planned by Jack.

What has Hall said about his villainous character in Reacher Season 3?

While Hall is not new in portraying villain characters on-screen, playing a villain to Ritchson’s Jack Reacher is really something, and it seems like Hall enjoyed it thoroughly. In an interview with ScreenRant, he discussed his character in Reacher Season 3:

“I’ve always appreciated actors that can do that [play villain] throughout their careers. I enjoy it. You’ve got to let it all hang out. You have to be alive and thinking on your feet, and I just want to kind of mix it up,”

In another interview with The Direct, he breaks down his character in season 3:

''Zachary Beck, on the surface, is a rug importer and exporter with a company called Bizarre Bizarre. But that is ostensibly his cover because, in reality, as we're going to find out, he's operating within a criminal network of guys, and he's trying to make good, and he's trying to rise in the ranks.''

He added:

''And it's interesting, although he's living like The Great Gatsby...''
