Apple TV+ sci-fi series Silo Season 2 is back, and it takes us back to the gripping tale of people living in underground Silos after an apocalypse hits the world. Silo Season 2 unravels most of the mystery of Silo 17 and how the inhabitants lost their lives.

The show is based on the book trilogy by Hugh Howly titled 'Silo.' Season 1 and Season 2 are based on the first installment called 'Wool.' The other installments 'Dust' and 'Shift' might be used as primary sources for the next seasons of Silo.

Silo Season 2 carefully splits into two narratives- one focussing on the events inside Silo 18 and another on Juliette's (Rebecca Ferguson) journey to Silo 17. Juliette discovers Silo 17, and as soon as she unlocks and proceeds inside, she meets Solo (Steven Zahn) inside a bunker. As the season proceeds, Solo's backstory unfolds.

Silo Season 2 Episode 8 raises even more questions about the Silo 17 rebellion and its survivors. The final two episodes give the viewers some answers to the event that destroyed the Silo 17 inhabitants.

Silo Season 2 premiered on Friday, November 15, 2024 on Apple TV+. With episodes airing every Friday, the season finale aired on January 17, 2025.

After Juliette rescued Solo from the vault with the help of Eater (Sara Hazemi), she got to know more about the Silo 17 rebellion. When Juliette asked Eater about how old she was during the rebellion, she revealed she was not born then, and her mother was quite young. Eater also revealed her mother was one of the very few survivors of the event.

In Silo Season 2 episode 9, Eater also revealed that Audrey's father Chase, and Rick's mother Tess, were also a few of the survivors of the rebellion. Many survivors died of hunger and illness; however, Chase and Tess lived together in a vault and gave birth to Peter, hoping that they would get through it.

When Juliette interacted with Solo, he revealed the Safeguard procedure and how they could stop it. Solo recalled how the people in his Silo were initially fine as they stepped out of Silo 17. However, he stated a strange dust came towards his people and killed all the survivors of the Silo 17 who stepped outside in hopes of living.

Solo's story revealed that it might have been a man-made phenomenon and not a natural one. The upcoming season might explore what exactly went wrong with the inhabitants in detail.

Silo Season 2 began with a scene from how the Silo 17 was leading towards a war. With lights flickering in the silo and people at war, the scene felt quite gritty. The sheriff of Silo 17 (Ross McCall) was seen leading a group of rebels waiting for the time to strike the IT Department.

The sheriff then ordered an attack on IT after the lower levels started to flood. He requested the rebels not to harm the Head of IT, Russell Conroy (Nick Haverson). However, he was informed that Russell was killed in the war. With the Head of IT dead, they had no other choice but to venture into the outside world.

As the rebels stepped outside the silo, they died, and Juliette found hundreds of bodies in the crater.

The rebellion killed hundreds, but a few survived. However, they were ultimately killed by hunger and illness.
