As Peter Sutherland goes about saving lives and uncovering conspiracies in The Night Agent, his life keeps getting entangled with Rose Larkin. After being saved from assassins in the first season, the tech entrepreneur returns in season 2, and once again gets embroiled in Peter’s dangerous world.

She plays a crucial role in stopping the UN building attack, and it all starts with her tracking down Peter using her AI program, AdVerse. In the season 2 premiere, Rose is seen working as a lead developer at AdVerse.

After helping Peter with his mission, she returns to California to work as the Chief Technology Officer of the company. However, since AdVerse has been highlighted throughout season 2, it could cause a major conflict in The Night Agent season 3 if the program falls into the wrong hands.

What could happen to Rose's Program in The Night Agent season 3?

Rose Larkin has always been known for her tech skills, and she helps transform AdVerse with her sharp mind and expertise. Her most notable creation is a facial recognition program that locates Peter in New York City in The Night Agent season 2.

While the program is highly advanced, its future in the show might pose a threat to Peter and Night Action. The show has often explored the theme of technology and secret information being misused, and AdVerse might be the next target of dangerous organizations.

It is possible that a rival company, foreign government, or even someone inside AdVerse might try to use it for unethical purposes. If that happens, Rose could once again find herself in the middle of a high-stakes mission.

This plot seems to be foreshadowed in The Night Agent season 2, as Rose constantly vouches for an ethics board to oversee the program's use. Rose’s skills as a coder could also make her a target. Criminals might try to manipulate her to work for them and use her program to their advantage.

One theory is that Rose could be drawn into Peter’s next mission as a double agent. At the end of season 2, Peter is tasked with uncovering corruption linked to Jacob Monroe and Governor Hagan. If Rose’s program somehow gets tied to the conspiracy, she would have to work with Night Action again.

Another possibility is that Rose’s program could be stolen or hacked. Since she knows the software inside and out, she might be the only one capable of stopping whoever is misusing it. This could also pull her back into the criminal world she thought she left at the end of The Night Agent season 2 by returning to California.

Some fans also speculate that Rose may already be working with Night Action in secret. She has a meeting with Noor at the end of season 2, which seems to be more than just a friendly chat. As of now, the creators have not confirmed if Rose will be seen in The Night Agent season 3.

However, in an interview with Deadline, series creator Shawn Ryan revealed that he knows Rose’s character and her relationship with Peter is one of the high points of the show:

“As it relates to Rose, we’re still figuring all of that out. What I would say is that we don’t want to artificially create a situation where characters have to be part of a specific season on a regular basis.”
“We want to tell the story that feels true in that moment. I am very aware that one of the big strengths of Season 1 — and what I think is a big strength in Season 2 — are Peter and Rose together. I think the relationship is really strong.”

As the makers want to include the characters naturally into the narrative, it would make sense if Rose returns to Peter's life with a case involving AdVerse. However, we will have to wait for The Night Agent season 3 to find out how things pan out for the tech entrepreneur and her program.

The Night Agent seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Netflix.
