The Daredevil: Born Again trailer dropped numerous surprises on the fans, one of them being the Kingpin as New York's latest legally elected mayor. The trailer also had glimpses of new characters like White Tiger, who in the comics is a mystical hero. However, we also see one of Marvel's darkest supervillains in the trailer, Muse, who has one of the most disturbing gimmicks.
The Daredevil's Muse made his first appearance in September 2016's Daredevil (Vol. 5) #11. He is identifiable by his appearance, which looks like a Banksy artwork, which some may find silly and some scary. However, his artwork has a disturbing source of origin, humans. He drains his victims of their blood and uses it in his artworks, and sometimes, he may use more than just blood too.
Daredevil's Muse from Daredevil: Born Again explained
Daredevil's Muse sees himself more as an artist and less as a serial killer. He has a very twisted vision of art, so much so that once he willingly immolated himself because in his view it was art. Much similar to Heath Ledger's interpretation of The Joker, Daredevil's Muse's past remains a mystery to this day. We don't know what he looks like or even his name.
He is a sadistic serial killer who paints murals on the city using the blood and organs of his victims. In the comics, he killed countless humans and arranged their remains in a way that showed them engaged in regular household chores. Daredevil regularly tries stopping him but The Man Without Fear finds it hard to locate the villain.
That's because he has powers and abilities that help him shield himself from Matt's heightened senses. Apart from that, he also possesses super strength, enabling him to tear his victims. He once gouged out the eyes of Blindspot, Daredevil's "sidekick". He is someone that comics have frequently hinted that can't be taken down alone. So, it is exciting to see him in the Daredevil: Born Again trailer.
What makes Muse the perfect antagonist for Daredevil: Born Again?
Muse's modus operandi makes it impossible that Daredevil: Born Again will be a suitable viewing for people of all ages. It is surely going to get a TV-MA rating, meaning it will be exclusively suitable for adult viewing only. Previously, early episodes of the Moon Knight series came close to depicting violence in live-action, and the fifth episode of X-Men'97 depicted gritty violence.
So, this type of grisly violence is a change of pace for the Disney+ Marvel series. If you don't want your children to access Daredevil: Born Again, you can use parental controls to lock it away from them.
Daredevil: Born Again speculations
Most people are speculating what Daredevil: Born Again is about. The show which is in the same continuity as the Marvel Netflix shows, has Matt Murdock, enjoying success as a lawyer, as he has stopped being The Devil of Hell's Kitchen. Kingpin is the new mayor, and in the trailer, we see him sitting down with Matt in a diner and having a conversation.
We speculate that Muse's murders force the newly elected mayor Wilson Fisk to seek out his foe Matt Murdock to return as Daredevil so that The Man Without Fear can apprehend murderous muralist Muse. The official synopsis for Daredevil: Born Again reads:
"Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course."
You'll soon meet Daredevil's Muse on March 4, 2025. Daredevil: Born Again will begin streaming on Disney+ across the world.
