Taylor Sheridan’s Landman Season 1 has concluded on Paramount+ after 10 exciting episodes. The show, which is set in West Texas oilfields, follows Tommy Norris, played by Billy Bob Thornton, a worker of the M-Tex oil company.

Throughout the season, Tommy faces several personal and professional challenges while trying to keep up with the operations of the oil field. In the Landman Season 1 finale, especially, he goes through emotional turmoil on losing his close friend and M-Tex’s head, Monty, and is later kidnapped by members of Galino’s cartel.

However, just when Tommy’s future looks bleak as he is being tortured by the cartel members, actor Andy Garcia makes a cameo as Galino and changes the game. He kills his own men and offers to join hands with Tommy.

Although Landman has not been officially renewed for a second season, the cameo hints at an unlikely partnership in the future that will disrupt the power dynamics in the oil fields and change the course of the story.

Landman Season 1 finale cameo hints at an unexpected partnership in Season 2

The Landman Season 1 finale showcases Monty dying of a heart attack. His last wish is to make Tommy the president of M-Tex Oil. While this can change the landman’s life overnight, the shift comes at a time when the company is struggling financially and dealing with threats from the cartel.

To add to Tommy’s troubles, he is kidnapped and tortured by the cartel. However, the cartel boss Galino, played by Andy Garcia, steps in at the right time and saves the day by killing his men. Galino is focused on business and plans his moves smartly.

He tells Tommy that they can not afford to be enemies and need to work together. Even though this seems like the only way out for Tommy, the partnership would not be easy for him. The scene sets up Landman Season 2, which would likely revolve around this new collaboration between the two enemies.

While working together might help Tommy survive for now, it is likely to cause him more problems. He is known for not backing down easily, which could lead to a showdown with Galino if the two are not able to reach common decisions.

The two would be working together despite their different backgrounds, personalities, visions, and plans, which is only going to create more tension in Tommy’s life. This would highlight how far Tommy is willing to go to protect M-Tex, even if it means making morally questionable choices.

Meanwhile, Galino’s real intentions also remain hidden in the Landman Season 1 finale, which makes him an unpredictable character, who does not shy away from going against his own partners to get what he wants.

Series co-creator and lead actor discuss Tommy and Galino’s partnership in Landman Season 2

Series co-creator Christian Wallace and lead actor Billy Bob Thornton talked about Andy Garcia’s cameo in the Landman Season 1 finale, and its impact on the future storyline in an interview with Variety. Thornton said Galino is a dangerous man who can trick Tommy into working for him:

“Tommy’s dealing with someone now who is really smart. The other guys were hired to work for him, but now Tommy’s talking to the man himself. There are advantages and disadvantages to that. Since he is so smart, who knows what Tommy is going to get tricked into?”

He added that Tommy might accept Galino’s offer to work together, as he believes in keeping his enemies closer. Wallace highlighted how the partnership could benefit Galino, and said:

“The cartel and the oil industry are kind of these odd neighbors living side by side in West Texas. Now Andy’s character is thinking he is going to make a change and utilize that proximity in a way that could benefit him.”

However, since the plot details for Landman Season 2 have not been revealed officially, it remains to be seen if and how Tommy would work out his collaboration with his arch-enemy.
