What do we know about Juliette's underwater scene in Silo Season 2 Episode 7? Star Rebecca Ferguson opens up 

Apple TV's dystopian sci-fi series Silo saw Rebecca Ferguson's Juliette deep dive underwater after Steve Zahn's Solo practically blackmailed her.

Silo Season 2 Episode 6 ends with Solo nursing Juliette back to health only to blackmail her into fixing the drainage pump, which is causing the water levels of his bunker to rise. He hid Juliette's oxygen suit to keep his side of the bargain, which left her unable to go out in the toxic world.

Ferguson talked about her experience of shooting such a difficult scene and what it was like to submerge deep down eight stories.

What was Rebecca Ferguson's experience while filming for Silo Season 2 Episode 7?

Juliette's infamous poster, submerged under the water, finally saw the light of day in Season 2, Episode 7. Her character descended eight stories underwater to fix the power pump for Solo (more like on Solo's demand).

Although Ferguson shot Season 2 almost a year back, she still remembers shooting this incident, which was fun but also a challenge. According to her interview with Variety, the crew built a water tank on their London set especially for this scene, and inventive camera movements and cuts were used to make it look like Juliette is actually descending underwater.

On recalling this shot, Ferguson reminisces in an interview with Variety,

''It [the regulator] shoots air directly into your lungs, so you have to practice breathing with it before you ever film. It is a really odd device, and a mental fuck-up. It’s like you bite onto something, and when you bite it shoots air.''

She adds,

“Sometimes, it messed with my head. Then, when we were underwater, there was a moment where I had to take everything off and just shoot up, which you shouldn’t really do. It was all very tricky.”

Her favorite moment to shoot from this sequence is when Solo explains to her how to swim underwater, and she asks him to do it himself. She says that her character shares a very odd relationship of necessity with Solo, and Zahn compliments her on-screen very well,

“I remember acting [this scene], it was just so good. Steve did such a brilliant, vulnerable exposè of Solo’s fear and his complete lack of knowledge in that moment. He can’t do it and he understands that she is needed. But she also needs him if she is going to do it. It is like this domino effect. But who is going to start?”

What happened when Juliette dived underwater in Silo Season 2 Episode 7?

Reluctantly, Juliette agrees to dive underwater and fix the pump. She makes a makeshift oxygen device and orders Solo to pull her back when she signals from the rope.

But after fixing the pump successfully, she realizes that her oxygen supply has been cut off and her basket's rope has also collapsed on her. Thinking that she was betrayed by Solo, she manages to reach the surface only to find that Solo has disappeared. She sees an ax and an arrow with blood on the floor, hinting Solo was attacked and has been taken, maybe by other Silo 17 survivors.
