Outlander ended its recent episode with a special tribute to David Wilson. Titled Written in My Own Heart's Blood, Season 7 Episode 15 follows the Battle of Monmouth. Although Jamie is able to come out of the battle unharmed, Claire’s fate hangs in the balance.
After the surprising events of the episode, the screen goes black and a tribute message appears. “In Loving Memory of our Friend and Colleague David Wilson,” the message reads.
It leaves the audience wondering who David Wilson was. He was a crew member who worked on several episodes of Outlander and had been associated with the Starz show since its beginning as a lighting technician.
David Wilson was a lighting technician in Outlander
Outlander Season 7 Episode 15 honors David Wilson for his contribution to the show. The crew member passed away recently. However, the date and cause of his demise have not been revealed by his family or the show’s production team.
David worked in the camera and electrical department of the historical drama. A lighting technician’s job is to set up and control the lighting during the filming of a show or a movie. David served as a lighting technician on 87 episodes of the show. He began working on Outlander with the very first episode, which aired in 2014 and remained associated with the series until Season 7 Episode 12, titled Carnal Knowledge and released in 2024.
David has also been credited in the first episode of the upcoming Season 8, which could mark his final work on the show.
Since Outlander is a period drama, lighting plays a key role in bringing out the authentic look and feel of the show. Hence, David had an important task at hand. For his immense contribution to the series, the production team decided to commemorate him with a special message at the end of Season 7 Episode 15.

Apart from Outlander, David worked on several hit films and shows. As per his IMDb page, he started his professional career in 2003 as an electrician in the Scottish film, AfterLife. He then went on to work in movies like A Fond Kiss, Hallam Foe, and Cloud Atlas.
David was also a crew member of the 2013 action thriller blockbuster Fast & Furious 6. Some of his recent film credits include Damaged, A Castle for Christmas, and The Princess Switch: Switched Again.
On television, he has worked as an electrician on projects like Last of the Summer Wine, Gary: Tank Commander, and Waterloo Road. More recently, he contributed to the Prime Video fantasy comedy series, Good Omens. He was the chief lighting technician, also known as the gaffer, on BBC's game show, The Weakest Link.

At the same time, Lord John Grey and Ian risk everything to rescue William from Hessian soldiers. Although William is thankful, he feels betrayed after learning the truth about his father.
In the final scenes, Claire is gravely injured by a retreating Redcoat’s musket shot. Jamie is overwhelmed with fear and grief and uses her blood to write his resignation from the army on a soldier’s back. As Claire fights for her life, her fate remains uncertain.
