The highly anticipated Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson match finally took place on November 15, 2024, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The epic fight concluded with Jake Paul winning over Mike Tyson via unanimous decision.

The match, which was live-streamed on Netflix, saw the return of Tyson to the professional sport after almost two decades. Though the 58-year-old former world heavyweight champion is well past his prime, he still took on the challenge of facing a 30-year younger opponent.

Following the match, it was revealed that age was not the only factor that went against Tyson. The legendary boxer also faced health issues as he suffered a knee injury before the match but decided to go ahead with the event.

Following his defeat in the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson event, the boxer had an interaction with the press where he was seen wearing a brace on his leg. When asked about the brace, Tyson revealed that he suffered a knee injury.

However, he added that he did not want to use it as an excuse in the fight and hence, continued with the match. Tyson said:

“Yeah [I had a knee injury], but I can't use that for an excuse.”

The Baddest Man on the Planet further added that he is happy despite losing the match:

“I am happy. I knew [Jake Paul] he was a good fighter. I knew he was prepared. I didn't prove nothing to anybody, only to myself. I am just happy with what I can do.”

He was then asked if he would be considering retirement from the game. Tyson said he is not sure about it but might want to face Jake's brother Logan Paul:

“I don't know, it depends on the situation. I don't think so, maybe his brother [Logan].”

Jake Paul won the eight-round heavyweight match with 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73 scores from the judges. The YouTuber-turned-boxer now holds the record of 11-1, 7 KOs. On the other hand, Tyson is a two-time world champion with a record of 50-7, 44 KOs.

The Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight was earlier postponed due to Tyson’s health scare

Mike Tyson faced a health issue earlier as well, which led to the postponement of the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson match. The fight was originally scheduled for July 20, 2024; however, Tyson suffered ulcers in May 2024 and had to be hospitalized. He released a statement at the time which read:

“Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flare-up, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover. My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s, and I will be back to my full training schedule soon.”

He later recounted the ordeal in the Netflix documentary Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson and explained how he almost died of the illness that stemmed from a 2 1/2-inch bleeding ulcer. Tyson revealed he was on a flight when the issues began:

“I went to the bathroom and I threw up blood. The next thing I know I'm on the floor. I was defecating tar.’’

After landing at the Los Angeles International Airport, he was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent several rounds of blood transfusions and lost 26 pounds of weight. He stated:

“I asked the doctor, ‘Am I going to die?’ And she didn't say no. She said we have options, though. That's when I got nervous.”

Tyson eventually braced through the illness and began training, finally showing up against Jake Paul on November 15, 2024.
