An adaptation of the acclaimed Image Comics series of the same name, Invincible follows half-human and half-viltrumite Mark Grayson. Throughout the two seasons of the animated show, Mark survives numerous violent clashes including a bloody one with his own Viltrumite father, learns that he has an alien half-brother, and manages to survive multiverse hopping.

Omni Man/Nolan Grayson is a part of the Guardians of the Globes (The Avengers/Justice League of this universe). However, the Guardians are brutally killed one day by Nolan himself. Did he do so in his regard? Or was he under the control of a supervillain? The synopsis for the series reads:

"INVINCIBLE is an adult animated superhero series that revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson, who’s just like every other guy his age — except his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man. But as Mark develops powers of his own, he discovers his father’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems."

In the closing moments of Invincible Season 1 Episode 1, "It's About Time" we see Omni-Man brutally murder all the other members of the Guardians of the Globe. However, it is unclear if he intentionally killed them or not. The second episode clarifies that Nolan intentionally killed the Guardians when he forces the invading Flaxan Army back to their dimension and devastates their planet. He warns them:

"You don't seem to understand. Earth isn't yours to conquer."

The quote above makes it clear that Omni-Man killed the Guardians so that the Viltrum Empire could take over the Earth easily. The only one suspicious in the first half of the series is Cecil. His suspicions are finally confirmed in the eight-episode "We Need to Talk" when even Debbie, Invincible/Mark, and the rest of the world find out the truth about Nolan.

Right after that, Omni-Man and Invincible have a bloody and brutal showdown in Chicago, utterly devastating the Windy City and killing countless civilians. Nolan then drags Mark to a snowy mountainside and beats him to an even more bloodier pulp. However, before Omni-Man can continue to beat his son, Mark manages to remind his father of the affection he feels for the family. Thus, Omni-Man leaves Earth.

A bloodied Mark is finally found by government forces and he is hospitalized. After recovering, Cecil helps Debbie and Mark by showing Nolan as a civilian casualty. Setting up the status quo for the second season.

In the third episode of Invincible Season 2, Mark is shocked to learn that Nolan is the ruler of a planet called Thraxa, married the Queen and has a son with her. That baby who is half-Viltrumite and half-Thraxan is Mark's half-brother. When two Viltrumites attack Thraxa, Nolan is captured to be executed for abandoning Earth, and Mark is handed over the responsibility of preparing the Earth to join the Viltrum Empire.

Mark spends the next two months at Thraxa to recover from that fight and also help restore some normalcy on the planet. The Queen requests Mark to take his half-brother to Earth because Thraxans have a lower life cycle and the baby would be all alone if he were to stay at Thraxa. Mark after reaching Earth, reveals the truth about the baby to Debbie, who accepts the kid and names him Oliver.

Meanwhile, the second season introduces the concept of the multiverse through its central antagonist: Angstrom Levy. He finally attacks Mark in the season finale where Invincible finds it virtually impossible to attack Levy. That's because Levy transported the hero to a different dimension every time Mark tried to land a punch on the former. However, Mark finally manages to hit Levy, and the latter transports them to a desolate wasteland.

In that Wasteland, Mark beats Levy to every inch of his life much like Omni-Man did back in the season 1 finale. Only this time Invincible delivers a killing blow to Levy bloodying him entirely. Guilty, Mark has given up hope about returning back to his dimension, but he is rescued by time-traveling Guardians led by an adult Atom Eve.

Before, Mark can head back home this version of Eve confesses her feelings for Mark and encourages him to tell her younger version how he feels. After returning, Mark deals with the feeling of guilt for killing Levy. He also meets Eve but doesn't tell her how he feels. He quits college and becomes a full-time hero.

The season ends on a somber note as Mark is torn up about killing, and he is single after breaking up with Amber in the season's seventh episode. From the looks of it, he is physically stronger than before as shown in the trailer for the third season. Let's see how this current season plays out.
