Oliver Stark's Evan "Buck" Buckley on 9-1-1 is a popular and likable character on the show. Starting as a reckless and naive firefighter who engaged in casual relationships with women, he has come a long way in his professional and personal life.

While Buck has had many romantic relationships on the show, his first relationship with Connie Britton's Abby Clark was much liked by the audience. But sadly, it ended after just Season 1, after Britton left the show.

9-1-1 Season 7 made Buck realize that he is bisexual, and he starts developing feelings for Tommy, a pilot. But this romance is also fleeting, and Buck is single at the end of Season 8.

More on Buck and Abby's relationship in our story.

Exploring Buck and Abby's relationship in 9-1-1

Buck first contacted Abby in 9-1-1 Season 1 while he assisted Athena on a call, where Abby was the dispatcher. After seeing Buck all over the news following his 'roller-coaster' incident, she contacted him to support him.

While Buck had a history of only sleeping with women and not forming real connections with them, he suggested that they keep their friendship strictly on calls and never meet in real life because he could use a friend at that time. While Abby is attracted to him and wants to pursue a relationship, she agrees.

The two started talking on the phone regularly, but Abby asked Buck to meet her when her mother, Patricia, an Alzheimer's patient, ran away from home. While they managed to find her mother, the two started dating each other, and many would agree that it was one of Buck's healthiest relationships on the show.

But after her mother dies in the Season 1 finale, Abby decides to visit Ireland to fulfill her mother's wish, and the two begin a long-distance relationship, with Buck still living in Abby's apartment.

While their relationship grew faint with time and distance, and as Abby decided to travel the world, their relationship eventually broke off when Buck moved out of her apartment. Britton formally left the show but made a cameo in Season 3, Episode 17, when her train crashes and she calls 9-1-1 for help.

She meets Buck at the accident and asks him to get her fiancee, who is still stuck on the train, safely out. Buck keeps his promise and gets him out safely. Finally, he has closure with Abby when they discuss her ghosting after leaving for Ireland, which eventually breaks them off.

Buck's latest relationship with Tommy has a connection with his ex Abby in 9-1-1

After getting closure from Abby, Buck had various girlfriends on the show, such as reporter Taylor, who always ended up in a breakup.

9-1-1 Season 7 was a turning point for Buck's sexuality, who feels jealous when Eddie forms a friendship with Tommy, a firefighter who used to work at the 118 before. It turns out this was because Buck was attracted to Tommy and realized that he was bisexual when Tommy kissed him.

The two eventually go on their first date, which does not go well, but Buck realizes he has feelings for Tommy, and they start dating.

In Season 8, during their six-month anniversary, Tommy tells Buck about his ex-girlfriend, who was very upset when he broke up with her and started dating a 'himbo' half her age. Buck realizes that Tommy's ex-girlfriend is none other than Abby, and he is the 'himbo' in question.

In 9-1-1 Season 1, it was mentioned that Abby was dating a boy named Tommy, who broke her heart. While Buck was able to make his way through this following some concerns, Tommy broke up with him because he thinks he is still not ready and needs to find himself before starting a romantic relationship.

It remains to be seen who will be Buck's next romantic partner when 9-1-1 returns with Season 8 Part 2 on March 6, 2025.
