Stacy Beale is one of the main characters on Paramount+’s Tulsa King. Played by Andrea Savage, the ATF agent complements Sylvester Stallone’s character Dwight Manfredi, sometimes as a love interest and sometimes as a betrayer.
Stacy has been in the crime drama since its inception, and her relationship dynamics with Dwight change throughout the show. She becomes the center of the narrative when she is shot by Dwight’s rivals during a confrontation.
Stacy ends up getting injured but can survive the attack. Taking a shot for Dwight strengthens her relationship with him, but she gets torn between her duty as an ATF and her feelings. She ends up betraying him by the end of Tulsa King Season 1.
Stacy gets shot by Dwight’s rivals in Tulsa King
Stacy first meets Dwight for a one-night stand in the first episode of Tulsa King. But things get complicated when Stacy realizes Dwight is an ex-mafia boss trying to build a new crime operation in Tulsa.
Stacy is then assigned to investigate him, which puts her in a tough spot between her job and her growing feelings for Dwight. At first, she tries to keep things professional, warning Dwight about his deadly moves while staying focused on her role as an agent.
However, as Dwight becomes deeply involved in Tulsa’s underworld, Stacy finds herself in a dilemma. She watches as Dwight makes allies, faces off with local criminals, and clashes with his old mafia family from New York.
Her story takes a turn in Tulsa King Season 1, episode 8, when Dwight plans to open a casino and trains his crew to defend themselves in case Waltrip’s gang attacks them. Meanwhile, Stacy confronts Waltrip at his gang’s hideout, questioning him about Roxy, a missing informant.
However, Waltrip has already disappeared from the spot. Stacy later meets with Dwight, but Waltrip and his partner Robbie show up and start shooting at them. Their goal is to kill Dwight, but Stacy steps in the line of fire and gets shot instead. While Stacy’s life hangs in the balance, she survives the injury.
Following the incident, the FBI finds out that Stacy has been in contact with Dwight a lot. They tell her that she can get her job back if she gives them evidence against him. Stacy struggles with what to do as she wants her job, but she cares for Dwight, too.
In the end, she hands over evidence against Dwight to the authorities. At Dwight’s casino opening party, Stacy shows up with the police and FBI agents. They arrest him for trying to bribe a federal agent. Dwight is shocked, realizing Stacy has turned on him.
In Tulsa King Season 2, Dwight is released from prison and visits Stacy’s home, telling her he does not hold any grudge against her. As the show goes on, the two keep getting pulled toward each other despite belonging to different worlds.
Andrea Savage opened up about her character’s decision to betray Dwight in an interview with Cinemablend. The actress said it was the right thing to do as Stacy tried to be a voice of reason for Dwight, but he did not change his ways. Savage said:
“I think Stacy realizes that as much as they had a connection (with Dwight), she begged him to not do some things and to pull back because it was really going to affect her. And he basically ignored her and made it worse.”
“[He] only did what was right for Dwight, and really didn't consider her at all. And I think she realized, ‘Well, I guess that's how I’ve got to live, too.’ This was her only way out.”
Tulsa King is available to stream on Paramount+.
