What happened to Renee Royce in Chicago Fire? Character explored in depth

It's been more than a decade since Chicago Fire aired on NBC. The first episode aired in October 2012. Created by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, the show focuses on firefighters, rescue personnel, and paramedics of the Chicago Fire Department at Firehouse 51.

Sarah Shahi's Renee Royce was in a relationship with Kelly Severide

As previously mentioned, Sarah Shahi plays the character of Renee Royce and is introduced to Kinney’s Kelly Severide when he rescues her from a dangerous mishap. That incident marked the start of romantic endeavors in Season 1 of Chicago Fire.

However, it didn’t last long as Shahi’s Renee Royce’s job promotion sent her to Madrid, and Kinney’s Severide was not ready to leave his job and his whole life behind and go to a new country across the ocean. The decision of Royce to move to Spain ended their relationship.

But it wasn’t the end just yet as Shahi’s Royce came back in episode 23 of Chicago Fire Season 1 and revealed that she wanted Kinney’s Severide to co-parent their child with her. However, in the second season of Chicago Fire, the truth finally came out that the child wasn't his, marking the end of their relationship.
