The fun-loving and sometimes troublesome Bundy family in Married... with Children is still lauded for making fans and viewers laugh to the fullest with Peggy (Katey Sagal) and Marcy (Amanda Bearse) being two of the most liked characters. The show even featured Peggy and Marcy's pregnancies in season six, as Katey Sagal was expecting in real life.

However, during the filming of Married... with Children, the actress suffered a miscarriage, resulting in the loss of her child. Considering the pain and trauma Katey Sagal endured, the makers abandoned the storyline and showed that it was all Al Bundy's dream (played by Ed O'Neill).

The show continued with Peggy and Al's conflicted yet intriguing marriage as the couple navigated through various phases. Despite their conflicted relationship, Peggy and Al set a good example of being loving parents to their daughter, Kelly.

Yes, you read it right. In Married... with Children season six, fans and viewers were surprised after watching Marcy and Peggy announcing their pregnancies together, making the show's plot even more interesting.

Their pregnancies were written into the sitcom because Katey Sagal was pregnant and the writers wanted her to continue with the show. Following their pregnancies, Married... with Children featured several humorous incidents revolving around Peggy and Marcy, as they experience pregnancy-related problems.

Fans could resonate with the dysfunctional Bundy family and often commended the show for being incredibly relatable. As the story continued, fans were expecting to witness Sagal's baby on-screen as Peggy's newborn child, but unfortunately, it never happened.

Katey Sagal's child was stillborn, causing the actress one of the greatest losses of her life. This also led to her missing four episodes of the sitcom. Following the tragedy, it was then revealed in the show that Marcy and Peggy's pregnancies were just a dream that Al had and nothing else.

So, Peggy and Marcy's babies never existed in Married... with Children and the show didn't feature any new characters as their children. However, throughout the lighthearted pregnancy plot, the highly acclaimed show received immense commendation and mixed reviews in the aftermath.

However, Married... with Children did welcome child actor Shane Sweet in season seven as Peggy's nephew, and a newly added character on the show. Interestingly, he was named Seven and appeared in almost twelve episodes of the show.

Seven's introduction helped the sitcom advance Al's storyline with more fun and humor, and introducing a cute face to the audience.

Why was Married... with Children Cancelled?

The cancellation of Married... with Children upset many dedicated fans, but the series had to end for good. The show was gradually losing its typical viewership and increasing production costs made it tough for the series to survive.

So, as a result, Married... with Children concluded after eleven seasons with more than 200 episodes. Actress Katey Sagal once talked about her initial thoughts for the sitcom in an interview with ABC News and said:

"I remember reading the script and thinking, 'This is hysterically funny, but no one will watch it because it's just too outside the box. We'll get canceled immediately. It was on a network nobody had heard of."

The actress initially thought that Married... with Children might not get famous due to its unique take on the genre, but little did she know that her portrayal would be praised even years after the show ended in 1997.

Apart from Sagal, other titular characters in Married... with Children included Kelly Bundy (played by Christina Applegate), Bud Bundy (played by David Faustino), Steve Rhoades (played by David Garrison), Jefferson D'Arcy (played by Ted McGinley), and how can we forget the two most adorable dogs, Buck and Lucky.

Married... with Children never had a special ending episode as the cancellation was sudden and ended with a regular episode of season eleven.
