Jamie Chung's Molly Park in Dexter: New Blood was a popular true-crime podcaster from Los Angeles who arrived in Iron Lake. The show's protagonist, Dexter Morgan, had been living in the area as Jim for 10 years, successfully leaving his criminal past behind.

In the story, Molly hosts a podcast called Marry F*cking Kill, which does a deep dive into the most notorious serial killers, including The Trinity Killer, who killed Dexter's wife, Rita, in Season 4.

With a new prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, having dropped recently, fans were curious if Molly Park is a part of its cast. To understand if at all and how Molly might fit into the franchise's latest scheme of things, we need to recall what exactly had happened to her.

On Dexter: New Blood, which aired in 2021-2022, Molly arrives in Iron Lake never having seen Dexter before. However, fascinated with his past, she wants to learn more about him. However, her curiosity and subsequent involvement in Matt's disappearance ultimately make her a killer's prey.

Molly gets involved with Angela, who is investigating a serial killer, Kurt. The suspense leads to a finale where Dexter finds Molly dead in Kurt's bunker. Molly is embalmed on the bunker's wall with the killer's other 'trophy' victims.

More on Molly's death in Dexter: New Blood in our story.

Who Killed Molly in Dexter: New Blood?

Molly was a major threat to Dexter in Dexter: New Blood because of her interest in and knowledge about The Trinity Killer and the murder of Dexter's wife, Rita. While she does not recognize Dexter because she has never seen him, she knows he and his son Harrison are alive and live in Iron Lake.

Her interest in true crime, and the opportunity to garner fame for her podcast, makes Molly trail Angela while the latter is looking into the disappearance of Matt Caldwell, son of Iron Lake's unofficial mayor Kurt Caldwell.

Molly tails Angela, which ultimately leads her to the remote cabin where Kurt takes her in, seemingly to 'question' her about Matt's disappearance. Molly feels she could gather some content for her podcast. At that point, she is saved by Jim (or Dexter), and the two are unaware that Kurt is actually the serial killer Angela is looking for. They also don't know that Molly could be his next target on Dexter: New Blood.

After a conversation with Angela, Molly disappears. Angela and Dexter suspect that Kurt is behind the disappearance and Molly could be his next target. Dexter and Harrison discover a bunker on Kurt's property, but are late. Molly has already fallen prey to Kurt.

When they enter the bunker, they find many dead and embalmed women plastered on the bunker's wall as Kurt's trophies, and Molly is one of them.

Is Dexter: New Blood's Molly in Dexter: Original Sin?

This seems to be a good year for Dexter fans, as after Dexter: New Blood, the original show now has another spin-off series in Dexter: Original Sin, which follows a teenage Dexter and how he became addicted to serial killing.

Molly Park of Dexter: New Blood is not a character in this prequel show because this is his origin story and she appears in Decter Morgan's life almost three decades later. Therefore, fans cannot expect to see Molly in Dexter: Original Sin.

While Chung is not on Dexter: Original Sin, she is now hosting Dexter: Final Cut. A companion after-show to Original Sin launched by Showtime, Dexter: Final Cut sees Chung inviting a special guest every week to dive into the prequel's story, behind-the-scenes, and more.

The next episode of Dexter: Original Sin next episode will be available on December 27, 2024, on Paramount+ with Showtime.

While Dexter: New Blood served as a sequel to the original show, Original Sin starts where the sequel ended. At the end of New Blood, Dexter was shot by his son and left to die in the snow. Original Sin starts with Dexter bleeding in the snow and subsequently being rushed to hospital where doctors revive him. He then goes into flashback mode, and thus begins the prequel, unfolding his back story.
