Superman and Lois Season 4 Episode 10 brought an end to this iconic DC show and the finale left no questions unanswered by the time the screen went dark. Airing on December 2, 2024, the series finale gave the fans a complete look into the lives of Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) after Superman successfully saved Smallville from Doomsday.
While the finale did resolve all the questions the show asked, one moment that shows Clark forgiving Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) remains open for interpretation. It is not clear whether the moment really happens or if it is just a symbolic gesture of showing that the two enemies have gotten over their past after their deaths.
Showrunners Todd Helbing and Brent Fletcher had mentioned to Entertainment Weekly that though the audience could interpret that scene in any way they wanted, they wanted it to be rather literal than symbolic.
Fletcher further added,
"Superman had a life full of hope, joy, and family. Luthor had made the wrong choices, and it was a life full of hate and retribution. When it was over, I think Lex realized that he had made the wrong choices. He had hurt people. If he had walked out that door with his daughter [played by Elizabeth Henstridge] in episode 5, I think he would've lived a much happier, fruitful life, and so it was regret and it was feeling bad that he had inflicted that pain on Superman, and Clark forgiving him."
Let us now explore the ending of Superman and Lois Season 4 Episode 10 in detail and see what happens between Superman and Lex Luthor in the series finale.

Lex Luthor is finally defeated by Superman in Superman and Lois Season 4 Episode 10
Episode 9 of Superman and Lois had left the storyline at a crucial point where Superman was in a battle with Doomsday from which it seemed impossible for him to emerge victorious. Episode 10 finally reveals the result of this battle and also draws the conclusion to Clerk’s enmity with Lex Luthor.
After Doomsday is defeated, things turn directly toward Luther who is still hell-bent on destroying both Clerk and Lois. Using an upgraded suit to take down Clerk, Luther also uses Milton’s crafted Kryptonite screws that attach themselves to Clerk’s skin.
However, since Clerk is determined to defeat Luther, he successfully crushes a Kryptonite screw only with his hands and then starts the fight with Lex head-on, using all his energy to end this thing once and for all.
Finally, Lex gets arrested and it is also eventually revealed that his appeal has been denied which meant he was to spend the rest of his life in Stryker prison. Moreover, in contrast to his previous prison life, Luther is given a normal cell this time, all thanks to Bruno Mannheim, who ensures Luther does not get access to anything luxurious.
The Superman and Doomsday fight ends on an unusual note in Superman and Lois Season 4 Episode 10
Superman was killed by Doomsday during the beginning of Superman and Lois Season 4 and therefore, the fight that ended on a cliffhanger in episode 9 was naturally brought to a conclusion in episode 10.
In this second round of the fight, Clerk is seen to be doing better after learning from the mistakes he committed previously, and with the help of Jonathan and Jordan flies Doomsday into Steel's hammer, which allows Superman to fly Doomsday right to the sun.
However, once in space, there comes a twist as Doomsday seems to be getting back some part of his consciousness and also his memories as Bizarro and eventually sacrifices himself to put this ongoing fight to an end.
This act seemingly saved Superman as otherwise he would have had to sacrifice his own life to stop Doomsday. Since Bizarro was both an enemy and an ally to Superman in the previous storylines, this conclusion to his character is fitting and quite emotional as well.
As Superman and Lois Season 4 concludes the series with the tenth episode, viewers get to see an epilogue that spans over 33 years and shows how Superman and Lois get old and finally die of natural causes.
Superman and Lois can be streamed on Hulu.
