Chicago Fire has been airing on NBC for over a decade, with the first episode premiering in October 2012. The show follows the lives of firefighters, paramedics, and rescue personnel of the Chicago Fire Department at Firehouse 51. Throughout its run, the show has introduced multiple characters and shown their journey.

One such character is Kylie Estevez. Played by Katelynn Shennett, the character first joined Chicago Fire in season 8 through a program led by Stella Kid (Miranda Rae Mayo) called Girls On Fire. Kylie’s ambition and determination to become a firefighter captured viewer’s attention and she quickly became a fan favorite.

Her relationship with Kidd who mentors her, guides her in her journey of becoming a firefighter, and also recruits her to join Firehouse 51, makes the narrative worth exploring. However, Kylie Estevez's appearance on the show has been infrequent.

Katelynn Shennett joined Chicago Fire in the eighth season as Kylie Estevez. She initially joined as an administrative assistant who wanted to become a firefighter. By joining Kidd’s program Girls On Fire, she fulfilled her dream of becoming one.

Kidd recruited Estevez to join Firehouse 51 to replace Jack Damon, played by Michal Bradway, who left during season 13. She is part of a team called Engine 51 whose leader is Lieutenant Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg). However, Kylie’s presence in the show has just been limited to a recurring character as she has been missing in a few episodes of season 13 of Chicago Fire.

In episode 5 of season 13, Engine 51 was not included in the fire response. Furthermore, it was not specified why they were missing. Not only Kylie but team leader Herrmann was also missing from the action field.

Even after being a part of Firehouse 51, Engine 51 seems to be the least used. The members are not given enough attention as the members of Servides’ (Taylor Kinney) team and Kidd’s (Miranda Rae Mayo) team are given. Kylie Estevez, being in Engine 51 hasn’t been given enough chance to show growth in her character arc, just like the other members of her team. Other than that, there has not been any exclusive reason behind her absence in the episode.
