Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is a fresh take on the iconic franchise. The Disney+ series revolves around four children instead of the conventional heroes previously seen in the movies or television shows.

The kids accidentally get stuck in space and are unable to reach their home planet, which sets them on an adventure in the galaxy. The coming-of-age series is set in the New Republic era, around the same time as The Mandalorian.

However, unlike other Star Wars shows, which are primarily connected to the film trilogies, this one has more of a self-contained story that does not focus on familiar characters like the Jedi. This makes the fans wonder what happened to the Jedi during Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

The show takes place about five years after Return of the Jedi, when the Jedi order does not exist as an organized group.

The Jedi are not a major part of the story in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, as the show takes place during the New Republic era, five years after the events of the 1983 film Return of the Jedi. Currently, the Jedi order is not working as an organized group, and Luke Skywalker is still working on rebuilding it.

Without the Jedi, the galaxy has become chaotic and pirates and criminals are running wild. Meanwhile, Luke is building a Jedi temple on Ossus and is looking for ancient Jedi artifacts while trying to find new students to reorganize the force.

In The Book of Boba Fett, Luke is seen training Grogu, but he chooses to leave and stay with his Mandalorian guardian. This means Luke has to start over, and he has not been able to make much progress during Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

Meanwhile, other Jedi, including Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, and Ezra Bridger, are still around. Ahsoka works independently as a former Jedi, and Sabine and Ezra, seen in Star Wars Rebels, have their own missions.

Even though there are a few Jedi out there, they do not work together like they used to, leaving the galaxy in chaos. This lack of Jedi leadership is one reason why pirates and criminals pose a big threat to the kids in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

As seen in the initial episodes of the series, the kids, Wim, Fern, KB, and Neel, are all chased down by pirates at Port Borgo. They are eventually abducted and placed in a prison cell until they meet a mysterious man who could very well be a Jedi.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode 2 hints at a connection with the Jedi

In the second episode, Way, Way Out Past the Barrier, when the kids are locked up in a prison by the pirates at Port Borgo, they are contacted by a mysterious man from the shadows. The man reveals himself to be Jod Na Nawood, played by Jude Law, who is also chained in the cell.

Jod offers to help the kids if they take him with them. He then uses the Force to get the key to the kids’ cell. The suspect that he could be a Jedi.

While Jod does not confirm that he is one, his use of the Force hints that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’s story could connect with the Jedi in future episodes.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew airs new episodes on Disney+ on Tuesdays.
