Jade Marie Beasley was born on August 3, 2009, and was a bright and cheerful child. Even after her parent's divorce she smoothly adjusted to the new environment and never hesitated to make space for a whole new person.

In December 2020, she was found lifeless in the bathtub when the police arrived at the house in Marion, Illinois. She died tragically from multiple stab wounds. The investigation raised several concerns regarding how the case was handled. It was Bevely who called 911 to report the killing as shown in the Murder on Songbird Road podcast but later got arrested for the crime, despite any direct physical evidence connecting to the crime. Julia lived with Marie and her father, a long-time boyfriend of Julia.

What is so controversial about Jade Beasley's case in Murder on Songbird Road

According to the police, Julia was barefoot in the house and might have stepped into the blood. But no trace of blood was found in her clothes. Moreover, even the murder weapon remains missing.

Michael Humes testifies in the court that he has never seen her raising her hand on any of her children, instead, she cries when she is angry or upset.

According to the story in Murder on Songbird Road, there was a 30-minute delay between when the murder happened and when Julia called 911. Julia supports it calling it a result of her shock and panic, while the prosecutor considers it a reaction to the guilt she was going through. The prosecutors also picked on some misleading statements by Julia.

Julia said that she saw a man in a mask running out of the house but the police didn't find any material evidence attached to it. The supporters of Bevely say that not finding evidence doesn't rule out the possibility that it never happened.

Therefore, this back and forth created speculation about the investigation. There were disputes about whether key leads were explored, and the circumstances surrounding the crime were not fully clear.
