Apple TV+’s Silo introduces viewers to a dystopian world filled with secrets, lies, and danger. Among the many characters, George Wilkins stands out as a programmer and curious mind who dared to challenge the status quo of Silo 18.

Portrayed by Ferdinand Kingsley, George’s story, though cut short, leaves a significant mark on the series.

George’s quest for answers puts him in danger. His activities attracted the attention of Robert Sims, the head of Judicial security. Sims viewed George as a threat to the Silo’s fragile order. He ordered Douglas Trumbull to kill George, framing it as a suicide by pushing him off the Silo’s stairs.

George’s death deeply affected Juliette, driving her to continue his work and seek justice. His discoveries, though incomplete, became the foundation for challenging the Silo’s oppressive system.

Though George appears in only five episodes, his role is pivotal. His discoveries ignite questions about Silo’s true purpose and set the stage for Juliette’s rebellion. His courage inspires others to question the world they live in, making him a catalyst for change in the series.

About George’s role in the mids

Born in Silo 18 in AR 112 to Anne and Andrew Wilkins, George grew up in a modest home on Level 76. His family later moved to a larger apartment on Level 78, reflecting some improvement in their circumstances.

At 14, George set out on his own, moving into a studio apartment on Level 42, and later relocating to Level 68. His early life revolved around a growing curiosity for relics, objects from the mysterious world outside the Silo.

George ran a repair stall in the Mids, a bustling part of the Silo where he helped residents fix broken items. Beneath this seemingly ordinary life, George engaged in secretive activities involving pre-Silo relics.

One notable connection was his relationship with Regina Jackson, a woman whose extended family helped him acquire forbidden items discreetly.

Among George’s treasured possessions was a relic gifted by his mother: a children’s book titled Amazing Adventures in Georgia: A Travel Guide for Kids. This book held more than sentimental value, it sparked his fascination with relics and led him to trade it for a mysterious hard drive.

The hard drive mystery

The hard drive George obtained appeared empty, but his tech skills told him otherwise. With help from IT worker Allison Becker, he uncovered hidden files. These files contained shocking revelations, including doctored videos of people leaving the Silo and blueprints revealing a hidden tunnel beneath the structure.

The hard drive's contents hinted at massive deceptions within the Silo’s governance. Videos suggested that the outside world might not be as deadly as claimed, while the blueprints revealed a pathway away from the Silo, something George was determined to investigate further.

Realizing the need for deeper access to the Silo’s secrets, George transferred to Mechanical, the area near the Down Deep. Here, he met Juliette Nichols, a skilled engineer. Initially, George saw her as a means to an end, but their partnership blossomed into a genuine, albeit unsanctioned, romance.

With Juliette’s help, George pursued the mystery of the hidden tunnel shown in the blueprints. This endeavor symbolized his relentless desire to uncover the truth, even at great personal risk.

George Wilkins may have met a tragic end, but his legacy lives on in Silo. His relentless pursuit of truth, his daring exploration of forbidden knowledge, and his impact on those around him make him a character whose presence is felt long after his death.
