The Righteous Gemstones and their mid-season trend of an interlude episode that takes us back into the past to give us some context are back at it. As the trend goes, the series moves forward, and so do the interludes. The Season 3 interlude placed us in 2000, and this season, we move into 2002. The Season 4 Interlude episode, titled "Interlude IV," is an interlude between the show and the finale episode for Season 4, and the biggest addition to this interlude apart from baby versions of Kelvin and Jesse was Lori Milsap's estranged ex-husband Cobb, played by Michael Rooker.
The interlude to The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 mainly focuses on Lori and Cobb's marriage and how it is falling apart. The tensions come to a head by the end of the episode, and Cobb disappears.
Here's everything we know about Cobb and his fate in The Righteous Gemstones.
What Happened to Cobb in The Righteous Gemstones?

Cobb in The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 Interlude
The Righteous Gemstones Interlude IV begins with Eli and Aimee-Leigh trying to convince their Rogers County community to invest in a 10-acre parking lot as an expansion of the worship center, which, according to them, will help the community with jobs that are high-paying. But the public has had enough of these family members, especially after they turned their chapels into mini-malls. Both Gemstones have to face backlash from the public, even being accused of having bought the council members. They end up with pies thrown at their faces by their audience.
The Righteous Gemstones episode features Cobb, Lori's ex-husband, an alligator farmer, who is also not too impressed by the Gemstones, which seems to be causing a rift in his marriage. Lori is resentful of her husband, calling him "poor," and wants a divorce from him. She aims to record an album with Aimee-Leigh so that she can separate from him. Lori and Cobb even end up in a fight after dinner in the driveway at the Gemstone home, where a drunk Cobb starts physically handling Lori, and Eli gets in between them and hits Cobb to stop him.
Cobb leaves to go back to his gator farm, where Eli visits him, apologizes to him, and puts an olive branch out by asking Cobb to pray with him. Cobb declines, saying he'd rather be in the water with his alligators than with the Gemstones. Cobb hates the Gemstones and chooses a day when they're not at home, unaware that Kelvin is still at the house, to exact his revenge against them. The episode reveals that Levin watched the masked Cobb as he drinks and then pees in Eli's bourbon and steals the Golden Bible that is being passed down in the Gemstones.
Will Cobb return in The Righteous Gemstones?
Cobb disappears after his robbery, but considering the fact that he did not die in this interlude opens up the possibility of his return. The Interlude did not explain where Cobb disappeared to after his robbery, but it would be weird for the show to explore his history with the Gemstones if they didn't intend to bring him back to the present storyline.
Additionally, Michael Rooker, who played the past version of Cobb in the Interlude, was wearing a wig to make him look younger. The actor would've just played the character as is if the show did not have any intention to bring him back as an older version of himself. Even though it is not confirmed, there is a very high probability that Cobb will be coming back for the series and season finale episodes.
Season 4 Episode 5 of Righteous Gemstones also set up big suspense when they revealed that Lori's ex-boyfriends were being mysteriously killed by someone. There is a possibility that Cobb might be the mysterious figure who has been killing off Lori's ex-boyfriends and maybe feeding them to his alligators. We'll find out in the upcoming episodes.
