While Netflix's globally acclaimed sci-fi series Stranger Things is returning for its most-awaited finale, one of its recurring cast members is sure to make no appearance. Claudia Henderson, Dustin’s supportive mother, will not be seen in season 5, though her absence is set to affect him.
Claudia may not be the central figure in the series, but her presence has always ensured emotional support for Dustin. Unlike Joyce Byers (played by Winona Ryder), Claudia remained unaware of the mysterious occurrences in Hawkins and never knew her son encountered deadly circumstances while battling Vecna and other foes.
She could only suspect something was wrong with the town, as Dustin never revealed the existence of the Upside Down and the growing threats of the Demogorgon and Vecna.

In the series season 4 episode 7 titled The Massacre at Hawkin's Lab, Claudia is present when Dustin, Max, and Lucas are being investigated by the police officers. She even asks Dustin if he's lying about his whereabouts, to which he replies with a big no.
Since that was the last scene where Claudia was present, the ending of that scene only hints that she's home, while Dustin is busy finding the hidden path to Upside Down.
Claudia Henderson is one of the single parents in Stranger Things, introduced in season 2 and serving as a recurring character until season 4. Though not much has been explored about Claudia in the sci-fi series, her presence when Dustin gets back home after facing endless challenges adds depth to his storyline.

The actress herself addressed her absence in Stranger Things Season 5 in an episode of the Monday Morning Critic Podcast. Catherine Curtin explained that her commitment to the upcoming film Saturday Night did not allow her to sign on for the last season.
"I’m not a part of the Stranger Things season five, but I have interacted with a few of those guys, and what I’m told is that it’s kind of amazing and that they work their butts off and that it’s brilliant."
Curtin even stated that the finale of the Netflix series "will not disappoint" fans, as she has been in contact with a few peers. The film Saturday Night will take viewers back to 1975, providing behind-the-scenes details about Saturday Night Live from the time of the show's first episode.
Interestingly, Finn Wolfhard, who portrays Eleven's boyfriend Mike, also has a part in the film. According to Deadline, the actor isn't playing a lead role but an NBC page.
