Shark Tank Season 16 Episode 5 was released on ABC on November 15, 2024. The long-running reality show features investors, including Lori Greiner, Mark Cuban, Kevin O'Leary, Daymond John, and guest judges.
The segment's fifth episode featured Chalkless, a "grip enhancer" that allows users to rub hands together "cleanly" while removing any oil in the palms.
As the entrepreneurs Greg Pope and James Pidhurney did not disclose their finances, Mark Cuban refused to invest, and later on, two more sharks, Barbara Corcoran and Lori Greiner, joined him in the refusal.
However, Shark Kevin O'Leary saw the potential, and as he believed the business would thrive, he offered a deal to the Chalkless founders. Later on, in Shark Tank's fifth episode, when the guest shark Rashaun Williams wanted to offer his investment, he and O’Leary presented a combined offer for Chalkless.
"It's almost like the great equalizer. You put it on, rub it in, clap away all the residual dust, and then your hands, which are naturally rough, give you a much firmer grip when you grab onto things," pitched James Pidhurney.
What happened to Chalkless on Shark Tank Season 16? Details explored
ABC's Shark Tank Season 16 featured Chalkless on its fifth episode. Despite their different professions, Entrepreneurs Greg Pope and James Pidhurney pitched their product on the reality show. The duo surely made an impact.
Before Chalkless, Greg worked with Righters Group, which he founded in 1980. He also co-founded Entry Point International in 2017.
Talking about James, he had worked various jobs, including Cabot Corporation, Champion International Paper, and Teradyne Connection systems. James then co-founded Entry Point International alongside Greg, and soon he became the Chalkless' Vice president.
After various combinations, experiments, and tireless efforts, the duo made a breakthrough. They found water-repellent and oil-absorbent materials, which they used to make the Chalkless.
For the uninitiated viewers, Chalkless is in solid, granular texture form and can absorb oil. Additionally, it is a patented product explicitly designed to offer a long-lasting grip.
Chalkless' website describes their product as,
"Chalkless grip enhancer's patented technology is engineered to provide long-lasting, radically-enhanced group for athletes in nearby every sport. Chalkless goes on clean and dry, turning your hands into a powerful grip zone you have to feel to believe."
Athletes could have Chalkless in a bottle, which they can easily use and apply to their dry hands, etc. All they need to do then is rub their palms together while covering their wrists and fingers as well.
Later, after the sports activities have been completed, the Chalkless can be removed by combining soap and water. They offer Chalkless in various sizes, including an 8 gm bottle, which costs around $24.99, whereas a 75 gm bulk bottle costs around $84.99.
As the product's official website describes, Chalkless is already spread across various regions and is actively used by the NBA, NFL, PPA CrossFit, USTA, PGA, and other sports that require the "grip" to be paramount. They also describe the product as a "game-changing grip."
While the rest of the Sharks seemed uninterested, Kevin O'Leary was interested in the investment. He offered 4% equity in Chalkess instead of $400.000. The Shark Tank investor also shared about getting a royalty bonus, i.e., $2.50 per unit sold, until his $4 million revenue is generated.
From then on, the royalty amount will decrease to 25 cents. Along with Kevin, guest Shark Rashaun Williams showed interest and decided to split the deal with Kevin O'Leary.
