One of the newest additions to Bel-Air Season 3 was the character of Amira, played by the actress Alycia Pascual-Peña. Peña had previously appeared in another popular old sitcom, Saved by the Bell. In the third season, she is introduced as Carlton's new romantic interest and rehab classmate. Carlton has strong feelings for Amira and deems her his support system, but she does keep something under wraps.

The major event involving Amira in Bel-Air takes place in the eighth episode of the season when she overdoses and her lies catch up to her. This plot-line creates an impact on the finale of the third season "Save the Best for Last".

What happens with Amira in Bel-Air Season 3 episode 8?

Towards the final moments of the eighth episode of Bel-Air Season 3, Carlton, Lisa, and Will search for Amira frantically. Earlier that day, she had accidentally run into Will at the country club and asked about Carlton's whereabouts. She truly wanted to support Carlton, as he and Will were about to pitch a business idea. To add to this, Will, aware of Lisa's suspicions regarding Amira's intentions, tells her to leave Carlton.

After successfully pitching the business, Lisa, Carlton, and Will begin searching for Amira. Carlton realizes that Amira is still in the country club as she had previously shared her location with him. Consequently, they start looking for her there. As the three search for Amira, Will, finally finds her unconscious and floating in the pool. Both Carlton and Lisa jump into the pool without a moment's delay to pull Amira out of the water.

To their horror, they realize that Amira is no longer breathing, and Lisa tries to give the former CPR, utilizing her experience as a lifeguard at the country club. Carlton, after finding a depleted vial containing drugs, suggests that whatever the vial consisted of, could've been laced with a dangerous drug. Lisa instantly instructs Carlton to retrieve the emergency kit that has Narcan.

She administers Narcan to Amira and rescues her, while Will calls for an ambulance. This incident drives a wedge between Carlton and Amira's blossoming romance. Their conflict comes to the forefront in the Bel-Air season 3 finale, eventually resulting in a split between the two.

Actress Alycia Pascual-Peña, who plays Amira in Bel-Air sat down for an interview with Decider in which she discussed this character in detail.

What did actress Alycia Pascual-Peña say?

In her Decider interview, Peña discussed the character of Amira in Bel-Air. She spoke about the different nuances of the character and why she isn't plain evil. For instance, in that interview, she said this:

“At face value, Amira is often an unlikable character. In reality, she’s going through something really hard who deserves understanding. They shared a formative experience and love sprouted from that.”

Peña continued:

“It’s really easy to write off a character like Amira and say that she’s evil. I would counter that idea by saying she’s trying to find her way in this new space.”

The actress was asked why Amira and Carlton are attracted to each other. In response, Alycia Pascual-Peña responded:

"They’re drawn to each other for a few reasons. They feel like they understand each other in ways that other people in their life can’t. They are both experiencing trauma, which resonates with them in an intimate way. They know what it is to be cast it out and yearn for someone’s attention and affection and support. It’s not lost on me that they meet at rehab. They shared a formative experience, and love sprouted from that. There’s lots of reasons why Amira and Carlton find their way to each other—despite the mishaps and the mess—and I really love that."

As an outcome of the split between Amira and Carlton in the season 3 finale, her reappearance in Bel-Air Season 4 cannot be confirmed yet.
