The show's upcoming episode, which will air on April 16, 2025, teases their rivalry to take full form as Reid will question Voight's leadership on a new carjacking case.

Voight will also work closely with Chapman to uncover their boss' shady past.

According to NBC, the official synopsis for Chicago P.D. Season 12 Episode 18 reads as follows:

"Voight and Chapman work together to uncover Deputy Chief Reid's shadow dealings as Reid assigns Intelligence to a carjacking case."

The Voight-Reid rivalry is about to escalate, and Episode 18's synopsis and teaser suggest that the two will finally come to a head after Reid assigns the Intelligence Unit to a carjacking case and questions Voight's authority over his team.

Considering Reid's character and shady dealings, he believes in solving a case by hook or crook, and he can be seen rushing Voight and his team in Chicago P.D. Season 12's upcoming episode. While Voight asks for more time in the said carjacking case, Reid suggests rushing things and even threatens Voight, saying:

''If you won't do that, I'll find somebody else who will. Is that clear enough for you?''

Since Voight believes in doing things by the book, the new case is bound to bring problems for him, as Reid continues to build pressure and push all his buttons.

Chicago P.D. Season 12 Episode 18 will likely be connected to Deputy Chief Reid's shady past

While Chicago P.D.'s upcoming episode promises an exciting face-off between Reid and Voight, it also teases that the carjacking case might somehow be connected to Reid's shady past.

Back in Season 12, while Voight was looking into his new boss' shady past, he found Reid's connection to Jesus Otero, a dangerous drug dealer. Considering a man of law like Reid's connection with a drug dealer could potentially ruin his reputation and career, the synopsis also teases that he will somehow be related to the case, as he says:

''There's a half a million dollars worth of dope inside''

Seeing that the carjacking case in Chicago P.D.'s upcoming episode is also linked to drugs, it is likely that the case will be linked to Otero and further to Reid's shady past, which can come undone in front of the team.

Talking about Voight and Reid's upcoming feud, actor Shawn Hatosy (Reid) teased in an interview with Collider:

"He [Reid] has this dirt that he can sort of end them all at any moment, which is fantastic, I think. So how will they stop this tyrant? I don’t know. We’ll find out,"

He added:

"I just think it’s just such a fantastic thing for Voight to have to deal with because he’s, you know what I mean? I think the fans will hate Reid for that, which I’m all for. So it’s heading in a very disastrous direction for this friendship,"
