Yara Martínez, an American television actress, was born on August 31, 1979, in Puerto Rico. However, despite being born in Puerto Rico, she was raised in Miami.
She is a trained ballerina and is Alicia Alonso, the famous Cuban ballerina assoluta’s grandniece.

She started her career with acting in guest-starring roles in television. However, her big break came with The Hitcher (2017), where she played Beth. Directed by Sophia Bush, though the film did not resonate with the critics or the audience, it gave her a lot of exposure that landed her a number of significant roles.

Apart from Chicago PD, Martinez has starred in a number of significant projects.
After The Hitcher, Martinez landed herself a series of roles in successful network hits like ER on NBC (1994-2009) and CSI on CBS (2000-).
She was then cast in the series Breakout Kings (2011-2013), a crime drama that followed a group of federally-assembled task force who tracked down and captured prison escapees. However, the show ran for only two seasons before it was canceled.
Then in 2013, Martinez appeared in the Amazon original series, Alpha Dogs. In this Garry Trudeau creation, Martinez portrayed the role of Adriana de Portago, a Cuban-Miami billionaire heiress, working at Washington DC to assemble Republican super PACs. She starred opposite John Goodman and Mark Consuelos.
Martinez also had recurring roles in Jane the Virgin, the CW comedy drama and HBO’s True Detective. She played the role of Ms. Lint in The Tick, an Amazon series.
She portrays the role of Dr. Paula Reyes in Deputy, a Fox series, and is also a recurring character in the CBS legal drama Bull and was eventually cast as a series regular.
What is the role of Yara Martinez in Chicago PD?
Yara Martinez appears in the 11th season of Chicago PD as Gloria Perez, who gets entangled with Torres, and a cop who went undercover as a drug runner.
As the wife of Rafael Perez, the head of the drug trafficking ring that Torres is after, he learns that Gloria has been keeping money aside from Rafael and wants to escape her life as a gang member.
Torres also learns that Gloria is physically abused by Rafael and that strikes a chord with him, as he had seen his mother being abused by his father. Torres successfully flips Gloria after revealing her identity to her and she becomes an informant for the Intelligence Unit.
In the episode titled Escape where Gloria first meets Torres, she tells him,
“I didn’t know you were a cop, and I’m really good at reading people… you’re not like them. You seem like something different.”
The two have an undeniable connection and they end up kissing when an attempted raid goes awry. Though Torres knows the irrationality and danger of the whole situation, he cannot help being attracted to her.
Their similar backgrounds help them to connect even deeper, which explains the romantic attraction that brews between them.
However, this decision of getting involved with an informant and the wife of the drug lord inevitably causes troubles in Torres’ life. He is told by Officer Kim Burgess that this line of action might not only cause him to lose his job, but also can land him in jail.
Gloria is last seen in the episode titled Somos Uno, where she gives Torres an ultimatum, making him seriously consider the gravity of his reckless actions.
