Color codes are significant warning terms used in hospitals, especially for the popular Seattle Grace Hospital in Grey's Anatomy. Such codes help alert the staff with minimal panic and a better understanding of the severity of a situation.

While there exist many color codes in Grey's Anatomy, Code Black is the most blood-curdling code that once almost killed the doctors and patients at the Seattle Grace Hospital.

Code Black indicates that there's a bomb planted inside the hospital and the doctors are advised to alert everyone present inside the building.

In such situations, patients and practicing doctors panic the most. So, to ensure stability, color codes play a crucial role in alerting the security.

The moment when everyone in Seattle Grace Hospital including fans and viewers' hearts skipped a beat was in Grey's Anatomy season 2 episode sixteen titled It's the End of the World.

The intensity of that episode struck fear not only inside the doctors performing surgeries and treating patients but also in the curious viewers who were watching the TV series.

The episode starts featuring Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey feeling unwell and dreaming of dying that day. Following her uneasiness, Cristina urged Meredith to wake up and head back to Seattle Grace Hospital.

As the doctors got back to their work, Dr. Burke, Meredith Grey, Hannah, and Dr. Milton were seen performing emergency surgery on a patient with a chest wound.

During the procedure, Hannah touches something hard like metal inside the patient and tells Dr. Burke how she feels. Following Hannah's description, Dr. Burke tells Hannah not to "move an inch". At this moment, everybody present inside the OR was scared to death.

Dr. Burke ensures everyone that everything's going to be fine, and tells Dr. Grey to walk outside slowly and "Tell the charge nurse that we have a Code Black". Following Dr. Burke's instruction, each patient along with the doctors evacuated the building except for the ones performing surgery in the OR.

After a while, the bomb squad arrived at Seattle Grace Hospital but initially failed to handle the bomb as it was inside the patient's body.

Meredith then understands the situation and takes over Hannah, by putting her hand inside the patient's body and holding the bomb as the team was defusing it.

Luckily, the team managed to defuse the bomb and Dr. Grey's brave move of handling the situation played a key role in saving lives in the OR.
