A six-part limited Pride and Prejudice series will arrive on Netflix soon. The streaming company just announced that the 1813 Jane Austen novel is going to be adapted into a series and will star Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden, and Olivia Colman in lead roles.
The show will be based on Jane Austen's novel, which is the same name, with some tweaks. The series will explore how Mrs. Bennet, mother of five daughters, tries to get them married to eligible bachelors. Elizabeth, the second oldest, is the protagonist of the novel, who, due to her prejudice, fails to see Mr. Darcy as a potential suitor. Mr. Darcy, on the other hand, blinded by pride, does not consider Elizabeth as a woman he might consider marrying. However, through the events of the novel, they both learn to get over their pride and prejudice and find their happy ending.
About Netflix's Pride and Prejudice
While the Pride and Prejudice series is far from released, Netflix has revealed some key details about it. Dolly Alderton, known for her novel Everything I Know About Love, has been tasked with writing the show. Anyone who grew up in the '90s or early 2000s developed their idea of the novel by either reading it or watching the 2005 Pride and Prejudice film adaptation starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. Alderton has been tasked with the difficult yet beautiful responsibility of portraying the novel in a new light to the next generation.
Alderton, in her conversation with Netfli,x said,
“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it... Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy — it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life. The book is a gift to adapt — packed with drama and depth as well as comedy and charm. In it lies the opportunity to examine the complexities of love, family, friendship and society, while aspiring to Austen’s delightfully observational voice. With Euros Lyn directing our stellar cast, I am so excited to reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count Pride and Prejudice as their favorite book, and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr Darcy.”
Euros Lyn, known for Heartstopper, will be directing the Pride and Prejudice series. Emma Corrin, known for Nosferatu and Lady Chatterley’s Lover, will not only star as the lead, Elizabeth Bennet, in this series but also be an executive producer. This is also a project where Corrin will reunite with her The Crown co-star, Olivia Colman, who is playing Mrs. Bennet. Jack Lowden, known for his performance in Dunkirk and Calibr,e is going to star as Mr. Darcy.
Emma Corrin expressed her feelings to Netflix about being cast as Elizabeth Bennet,

The Pride and Prejudice series is a truly special project, bringing one of the most beloved novels to viewers in a series format. Creators have six parts to tell the story in detail, which hasn't been done before. The series format will hopefully be a hit with the fans. Netflix executive Mona Qureshi said,

Release dates for the Pride and Prejudice series have not been announced, but production starts this year. We guess the series will likely be released toward the end of 2026. When it is released, it will be available to stream on Netflix.
