Agatha All Along concluded its first season with a double-finale featuring Episodes 8 and 9 on October 30th, 2024. The show follows the story of a witch, Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, who was first introduced in WandaVision.

Agatha disguised herself as Agnes, Wanda's nosy neighbor, secretly infiltrating her house. Her character then appeared in the spin-off, bringing the witch from the 1600s to life.

In the show's finale, Agatha turns into a ghost after she gives up her life to Death and saves Billy Maximoff. While her ghostly form could be a potential storyline in the MCU, Agatha becomes a ghost because she has ''unfinished business'' in the mortal world.

Agatha's metamorphosis on the show is adapted from the comics. She was introduced as a governess in 1970's Fantastic Four #94. She is later revealed to be the leader of the witch community of New Salem, who is burned at the stake by her grandchildren on orders of her son Nicholas Scratch.

While she dies in 1985's Vision and the Scarlet Witch #3, she transforms into a ghost and mentors Wanda Maximoff's Scarlet Witch. She is one of the spirit witches in the MCU.

How did Agatha transform into a ghost on Agatha All Along?

Agatha and Billy meet Death on the Witch's road after Lilia Calderu's tarot-based trial. They both soon realize that it is futile to fight Death, and instead, Death strikes a deal with them. It suggests sacrificing one among themselves, and she will spare the other.

While Agatha is tempted to sacrifice Billy, she is reminded of her son and decides to sacrifice herself and save Billy's life. She kisses Death and embraces her demise while saving Billy. While everyone thinks she is dead, she introduces herself as a ghost in the show's finale.

Evanora Harkness, Agatha's mother, is also shown in her ghostly form in Episode 5. She can possess the body of any human being. While Agatha's ghostly powers are not revealed, she can take any solid object in her ghostly realm and pass through objects.

With Agatha now invulnerable in Agatha All Along, her ghostly form certainly has unfinished business in the mortal world, which will be further explored in the MCU.

What can Agatha's transformation in Agatha All Along mean for her future in the MCU?

While Agatha's journey was presumed to be over after her death in Agatha All Along, it seems like Katherine will reprise her role, along with Joe Locke's Billy Maximoff.

As mentioned above, Agatha became a mentor for Wanda's Scarlet Witch in the comics. It seems like she will mentor Billy Maximoff's Wiccan in the live-action MCU.

The pair's next outing could be in Wanda Vision's next spin-off, MCU's Vision series, where they could reunite with Paul Bettany's Vision to find Tommy Maximoff. While chances of Agatha being resurrected into her human form are still there, she could use her ghostly powers for her next adventures.

While the show has proved that ghosts are possible with Agatha's mother's ghostly cameo in Episode 5, Agatha staying in her ghostly form is not very shocking, given her origins and the sacrifice she made for Billy in the finale.

Their relationship might also set up Agatha's plans to mentor Billy while being in her ghostly form.

Agatha All Along finale Episodes 8 and 9 are available to stream on Disney+.
