While Taylor Sheridan's passion project Yellowstone ended with the Season 5 finale, concluding the epic family saga of the Duttons, Sheridan is far from done with this Neo-Western Universe.
Although fans were upset after learning that their favorite drama is coming to an end, they can be assured that Sheridan has planned many spin-offs to keep the charm of this original series alive.
To make sure that fans will not be starved of more Yellowstone content, a spin-off titled 6666 was announced in February 2021. While news about its production and working are not much confirmed right now, we cannot blame Sheridan with spin-offs coming left and right.
While Sheridan was disappointed that he could not give John Dutton's character the proper conclusion he deserved, following his rift with actor Kevin Costner, which led to the latter's exit from Season 5 Part B, Sheridan wants to keep the show's legacy ongoing.
More on Yellowstone's spin-off 6666 in our story.
Who will feature in 6666? Exploring the details of the Yellowstone spin-off
Jefferson White's Jimmy Hurdstrom was taken under the wing of John Dutton on Yellowstone Season 1 at his grandfather's request. While his grandfather died in a later attack, Jimmy was sent to Ranch 6666 by John, away from the dangers in Montana, to learn the way of cowboy living.
White returned in Season 5, Part B, which hints that the upcoming spin-off is rumored to followow his life on the titular Texas Ranch with his fiancée, Emily. He is expected to be one of the main cast members for the upcoming spin-off, 6666.
According to IMDB, the official logline for 6666 reads as follows:
“Founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666. Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing."
It was reported that Sheridan purchased the historic 6666 ranch in 2021 for $320 million.
Are there more Yellowstone spin-offs in the works?
While Yellowstone might be over, the universe is still going strong, with many spin-offs in the works. The first spin-off series, 1883, ran for two seasons and concluded in 2022. Another follow-up series, 1923, will premiere its Season 2 on February 23, 2025.
In addition to the upcoming 6666 spin-off, another spin-off titled The Madison, featuring Rebecca Spence, Patrick J. Adams, Michelle Pfeiffer, Beau Garrett, and Elle Chapman, is also in the works and will be released in 2025.
In addition, another spin-off with Cole Hauser's Rip and Kelly Reilly's Beth is also speculated after the Season 5 finale.
In an interview with People Magazine, Hauser talked about his excitement to reprise his role as Rip in his own spin-off show.
"We will see what happens over the next year or so and we'll see what's next. Hopefully, we can continue to get in people's living rooms and entertain them the way we have over the last seven years."
