Binge-worthy TV shows and movies on Prime Video

1) Lord of the Ring: Rings of Power

Fans of the original Lord of the Rings franchise were beyond elated after the series was announced last year. The story is centered on the history behind the three rings wielded by powerful wizards from the Middle Earth.

The series is every fantasy lover's dream come true and boasts whimsical special effects, unique creatures, and an enthralling plot. The Prime Video series has two seasons with 8 episodes each.

However, Season 2 of Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power is ongoing with 4 episodes aired to date. Binge the series today to catch up to Season 2 of the show. Each episode lasts a little over an hour. Despite the length, it will keep you hooked all the way!

2) Those about to Die

There are considerably few series that discuss the days of Rome - the rise and fall of an empire with a twisted facade. Those About to Die dives into the archaic era of 79 AD - a golden era for Romans. With cruelty running rampant over a series of battles ending in at least one death for fun.

The cast features legendary actor Anthony Hopkins who plays ‘Vespasian’ - a tyrant from humble beginnings. The Prime Video series has one season with 10 intense episodes exploring themes of politics, business, royalty, and romance (of sorts). Lasting for approximately an hour, Those About to Die has the kind of story where you can’t look away.

3) Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Genre: Spy Fiction, Action, Thriller, Comedy

Not to be confused with the movie, Mr. & Mrs. Smith is a spy drama pairing two perfect strangers to pose as a happily married couple in a friendly neighborhood. The duo was hired to play ‘John and Jane Smith’ - a lovestruck duo, by the espionage company to sleuth suspicious activity in the neighborhood.

The two often have moments of chemistry that can be cut with a knife! It gives major James Bond vibes, but the comedy and action balance this series beautifully. The show stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine - the protagonists of the series.

The series gets intense, especially with the emotional rollercoaster it takes you on. It has one season with 8 banger episodes, perfect to keep you engaged over the weekend.

4) Jackpot!

Jackpot! is Prime Video’s latest comedy movie featuring two of Hollywood’s bigwig comedians: John Cena and Emmy-winner Awkwafina. The story is about “The Grand Lottery” - a get-rich-quick gimmick with a dark twist: there is no one victor for the spoils; it can be anyone! The movie is set in 2030 and follows Awkwafina fighting for her money with Cena’s assistance.

The movie might not be a banger, but it’s great to unwind and have a few laughs, especially since it features Awkwafina. Also watch Cena fluant his smooth skills from his career in WWE! Their chaotic selves go through quite a journey to safeguard over a billion dollars. The movie has a runtime of 1 hour and 46 minutes.

5) The Idea of You

Genre: Romance, Drama

Why not end or begin a weekend with a good old romance story and Anne Hathaway to give you the boost for the Monday blues? The Idea of You is one of Prime Video’s newest creations earning a rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie has a run-time of nearly 2 hours (1 hour 55 minutes) and also features Nicholas Galitzine, Reid Scott, Graham Norton, Rashal James, and several others!

The story gets you in the feels with its tender storyline in which Hathaway plays a single mom, who falls for a boy band singer years younger than her.

Although they’re beyond infatuated with each other, their perfect world begins gradually crumbling when the age-gap gets brought up. Keep tissues at bay just in case!
