Weak Hero Class 1 isn’t your usual school drama. It’s raw, real, and painful. It shows what happens when bullying, neglect, and deep emotional trauma build up in silence. The story mainly follows Yeon Si-eun, a brilliant but quiet student who finds unexpected friendship with Ahn Su Ho and Oh Beom-seok (also called Bomi). But that friendship eventually turns into betrayal and heartbreak.
The finale hit like a truck. Out of nowhere, Beom-seok brutally attacked Su Ho, smashing his head again and again until he went into a coma. Si-eun, shocked and heartbroken, asked the one question we were all thinking: “Why did you do that? Why did you try to kill someone who was your best friend?”
Bomi had no real answer. He didn’t fully understand it himself. But deep inside, he hoped Si-eun would understand. Because he had been carrying years of pain.
The real villain
To understand Bomi’s violence, we need to go deeper, to his father, Assemblyman Jin-won. This man wasn’t a dad. He was an abuser. He adopted Bomi only to look good in public. In private, he beat him, called him worthless, and never treated him like family. Every time Bomi tried to fit in or be happy, his father crushed that spirit.
That day at the gym, Su Ho looked at Bomi with pity. And in that split second, Bomi didn’t see his friend, he saw his father. That look triggered years of bottled-up rage.
There was a time when Si-eun, Su Ho, and Bomi were like brothers. But things changed when a new girl, Yeong-i, joined their group. Bomi felt ignored, just like he always did at home. He thought Si-eun and Su Ho didn’t care about him anymore.
So, to feel “seen,” Bomi found new friends, dangerous ones. And without even realizing it, he started hating his old friends.
When Su Ho looked at Bomi with pity, it wasn’t to insult him. He cared. But Bomi, broken by years of abuse, couldn’t take it. He snapped. In his mind, he wasn’t beating his friend, he was finally fighting back against years of being treated like garbage.
But violence never heals. It only hurts.
After Su Ho was hospitalized, Si-eun wanted answers. He found out that Bomi had attacked Su Ho relentlessly. But even then, Si-eun couldn’t bring himself to hurt Bomi. Why? Because he knew what Bomi had gone through.
He realized that continuing the cycle of violence would only make things worse. He chose a different path.
There was a video of the brutal attack. If made public, Bomi would have gone to juvenile prison. But Si-eun chose to protect him, again. He kept the video hidden.
In return, Bomi’s powerful father tried to ruin Si-eun’s life. But Si-eun played his card right. He sent the video to Jin-won and asked for a transfer instead of being thrown into juvenile jail. The cost? No school in Seoul would accept him.
So, he was forced to move to Yongpo and join EuJang High School.
Su Ho survived but fell into a coma. Si-eun kept visiting him at the hospital, even imagining conversations with him. He blamed himself for not stopping Bomi. He wished he could have done more.
Meanwhile, Su Ho’s grandmother took him away. There’s hope he might return in Season 2, but it’s unclear if he’ll ever be the same again.
Si-eun’s new school wasn’t any better. On day one, a student named Kang Woo-young tried to bully him. Same tactics, same toxic behavior. But this time, Si-eun wasn’t going to play the victim.
He stood up, ready to fight. Again, not just with fists, but with everything he had inside.
Weak Hero isn’t just a story about school fights. It’s about the scars people hide, the damage parents can do, and the dangers of staying silent. Bomi was a victim before he became a monster. Si-eun was a hero who didn’t wear a cape, but carried a heavy heart.
This story makes us ask: Can love, understanding, and friendship ever defeat the cycle of violence? Maybe not right away. But it’s a good place to start.
