Shark Tank mentor Jamie Kern Lima shared an Instagram reel on March 4, 2025, sharing her views on whether "self-confidence" is the "key" to success. For fans who might not know, Jamie wrote a book, Worthy, which she talks about in the latter part of the video clip.
The female entrepreneur mentioned how sometimes we think "we are not enough," and its effects. Jamie stated it was a "lie" and impacted our everyday lives. Revealing one of the huge reasons behind authoring her book Worthy, Shark Tank investor stated:
"When we believe we are not enough, as we are, A, it is a lie, it is a lie, but it impacts almost every area of our lives. A big reason why I wrote Worthy is because I realized, oh my goodness, like in life, we don't become what we want, we become what we believe we're worthy of. And that is the thing."
Shark Tank investor Jamie Kern Lima shares her thoughts on self-worth and success
In a recently released video clip, Jamie Kern Lima opened up about how we become what we "believe" and not what we "want." She shared more on the subject and referred to our "self-worth" as our "ceiling." While mentioning her second book was about "believing," Jamie recalled:
"My first book was my story of learning to believe in myself. And Worthy is really like a playbook. Like how do you believe in you? It's packed with over 20 tools on building self-worth. And like our self-confidence is really important, but it's an internal trait. But it's based so much on the external. On like our willingness to try and go for it."
Shark Tank's mentor further stated that we feel "stacked up" and sometimes we compare ourselves to others. She talked about the "world's definition" of success: our wins and losses. For that, "confidence" is essential to "our life."
However, the female author referred to confidence as "fragile" and said it also "fluctuates." Jamie Kern Lima noted that it was different from "self-worth." As she mentioned, it was "deep internal knowing" and the belief that we are "worthy" of love the way we are.
"You know, our self-worth is different. It's that deep internal knowing and belief that we are worthy of love and belonging exactly as we are."
She captioned the video clip with more essential knowledge about "self-confidence" and "success."
"Think self-confidence is the key to success? Here's why it's NOT. Our self-confidence often rises and falls based on what's happening outside of us—our achievements, our looks, our circumstances. But self-worth? That's something different."
According to Shark Tank's mentor, self-worth refers to the "deep" and "unshakable" belief that you are "enough." She talked about fully embracing our self-worth.
