Expanding on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes lore, CBS's Watson is about to premiere on January 26, 2025, and it will follow the story of John after his best friend and detective Sherlock Holmes's death.
John is an important character in Doyle's books, as Sherlock's trusted best friend and partner in solving crime. The show will take place a year after Holmes' apparent death, where John has set up his own clinic in Pittsburgh.
His life will change again after he learns that Sherlock's biggest enemy, Moriarty, might still be alive.

1) Morris Chestnut as John Watson
Chestnut is known for his work in The Resident, Nurse Jackie and The Best Man film trilogy. He is also included in the list of stars who have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Morris will play the leading role of Dr. Watson in the show, which would be a new take on Doyle's Sherlock's sidekick character. He will be a physician who will open his clinic and will name it "Holmes Clinic" in Pittsburgh, in honour of his late friend Sherlock Holmes.
He will treat patients with unusual and unspecified disorders, but soon, his past will come haunting back after he learns that Holmes' archenemy, Moriarty, might still be alive.
2) Eve Harlow as Ingrid Derian
Eve is a Soviet-born actress who is best known for her work in 12 Monkeys, SEAL Team, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Next.
She will play the role of Ingrid, a neurologist appointed by Watson in his newly opened clinic. Given from her description, it feels like she is also a mystery like Holmes, which is why John might have appointed her in the first place. Her unconventional methods will be questioned by his co-workers.
3) Inga Schlingmann as Sasha Lubbock
Inga, who is best known for her role in the CBS comedy So Help Me Todd, will play the role of Dr. Sasha, an expert in rheumatology and immunology, who will also join John's clinic.
Sasha will have a complicated past on the show, as she will be torn between two parents and families: her birth parents in China and her adoptive and very religious family in Dallas, Texas.
4) Rochelle Aytes as Mary Morstan
Famous for her roles in shows like Criminal Minds and S.W.A.T., Rochelle is making her CBS comeback as Mary, John's ex-wife. She is a respected East Coast surgeon who works as medical director in her ex-husband's clinic.
She will be the anchor who will often guide Watson throughout the show, and even after their divorce, the two will share a respectful and amicable relationship in the series.
Supporting characters in Watson
Actor Peter Mark Kendall will play the roles of twin brothers Stephens Croft and Adam Croft. The brothers will step in as infectious disease and functional medicine specialists at John's clinic and have contrasting personalities on the show.
Actor Ritchie Coster will play the role of Shinwell Johnson, a former criminal and acquaintance of John and Sherlock; he will step in as the clinic's administrative aide and will often help Jon with his sleuthing.
