The Challenge 40 released its first part of the finale episode on January 1, 2025, on MTV. The segment featured eight finalists competing towards winning the show. While fans witnessed the finalists going through a fierce competition, they saw a water-based task, which involved a lot of swimming.
Referring to that, some fans recalled how Cara Maria Sorbello was eliminated in a water-based task, against Tori Deal. The Challenge 40 fans took to social media platform X where they started a discussion as to how, if Cara had been a finalist, she might not have won.
One of the fans of Cara Maria shared how "it's kinda okay" that she was eliminated as the finale also consisted of tasks that involved swimming.
A fan wrote on X:
"Cara baby …. You wasn't going to win this final. Love you mean it #thechallenge40 You either Leroy!"
Another fan commented about "water-based final":
"Whew, it's kinda okay as a cara fan to see her go out before this water based final. #Thechallenge40."
One more fan wrote on X:
"Damn Jenny is so annoying. I so wish Cara made the final over her #TheChallenge40."
A netizen recalled Cara Maria for the show's final:
"If Cara Maria had to do this final.. she would still be on check point one, today! #TheChallenge40 @TheChallenge."
Another fan commented on the platform:
"Kyland annoys me! And this final is exhausting to even watch. I'm actually glad Cara didn't get this one because she would struggle since most of it is swimming! But I'm Not feeling this final! #TheChallenge40."
A user reacted to the finalist Jenny and how Cara was not in the game:
"Jenny is walking and I'm just frustrated because Cara wouldn't have walked. Like I get why, but it's just frustrating. Especially when her incorrectly judged puzzle is what got Cara out. #TheChallenge40."
One more fan recalled Cara's elimination from The Challenge 40:
"Cara Maria should feel better about going home before this final bc theres no way she was winning one that's main components are puzzles and swimming #TheChallenge40."
A user commented about Cara's elimination task against Tori Deal and the results of the same:
"The fact that they gave tori a 3 hr treading water elimination that impacted her performance in the final when they could've just given her a hall brawl that would've taken her 2.5 seconds to run over cara and start that final is crazy to me lmao #TheChallenge40 #TheChallenge."
To that one fan replied:
"After seeing the final I'd argue the treading water elimination was appropriate. The best swimmer went through to the final. I love Cara but she would have been struggling like Kyland in this final."
A netizen shared on X:
"I think they wanted to do a swimming final. knew Cara wasn't going to be able to hack it, told her low key on the side. and set it up for whoever she was gonna go against to beat her. Tori effed up cuz she got last which sucks because she was doing so good all season."
The Challenge 40: Fans recall Cara Maria Sorbello's elimination
The Challenge 40's December 18, 2024 episode featured face-off between Tori Deal and Cara Maria Sorbello. It resulted in the latter's elimination and was sent home right before the show's finale.
The 17th episode of the reality show featured Tori and Cara tread for as long as they could, while they were surrounded by insects and fishes from the sea. The task took place at night, making it even harder for the competitors.
After the task went on for quite some time, and none of the participants were willing to give up, the show host T.J. Lavin introduced a twist. Both Cara Maria and Tori were supposed to keep their elbows above water level, which went on for about three hours.
Despite her efforts, Cara went underwater which resulted in her elimination from The Challenge 40. Later on, the female participant shared that everything happens for a reason and that she was going to focus on her "journey."
MTV will release The Challenge 40 Finale on January 7, 2025, and reveal the winner.
