Severance star Tramell Tillman has been drawing attention ever since the debut season of the Apple TV+ show. Now, as the second season of Severance is rolling out new episodes, Mr. Milchik's journey as a character has been further developed, showcasing a side of him that was hitherto unknown to the audience. Milchik is a part of the middle management at Lumon and has so far been a perfectionist and someone adept at receiving and giving orders.

However, the ninth episode of Severance season two contained an unexpected outburst from Tillman. During a conversation with Mr. Drummond, things escalate quickly, and Tillman eventually shouts out the now-famous phrase "Devour Feculence" which translates to literally eating feces.

Here's everything that we know.

Severance star Tramell Tillman speaks about Mr. Milchik's "Devour Feculence!" outburst

The ninth episode of the Apple TV+ show's second season saw Mr. Drummond demanding an apology from Mr. Milchik. What was the latter's crime? Apparently, Mr. Milchik used a "needlessly complex word" and, therefore, must apologize to Mr. Drummond for the same. Milchik was on his way to demurely accept his situation when something came over him, and he roared: "Devour Feculence!".

Tillman recently spoke at length with Decider about his character's unexpected outburst, which he himself enjoyed. He commented:

"It was great to have him have a voice, for him to step up and and say, ‘I’m not going to tolerate this. And that’s the condition. Unfortunately with middle management, you’re always receiving and having to give out and always receive, receive, receive. And let’s not forget that when he started the job in Season 1, we started in chaos. And from that point on to where we end in Season 2, it’s only been like a week or two weeks. So all of these things that are building up, he doesn’t have the time or the space to really breathe or expel that energy.”

Tramell Tillman identifies with his character on Severance

Tillman revealed in the same interview that he could relate to Milchik to a great extent, especially since he confessed to being a reformed people pleaser like Milchik. He further stated:

"I definitely identify with Milchick more than I thought I would. I’m a former, reformed people pleaser, and Milchick definitely is a people pleaser. He’s a perfectionist. And I identify with that."

He also explained:

"There’s a passion. There’s a connection that he has as a man of faith and belief in what he’s a part of. I definitely identify with that as a man of faith. But learning the the importance of how much time we spend with it and who we spend it with was really illuminating for me, because we don’t get to see much of his external life outside of Lumon. And I think when you when you build a character who is so rich inside the space and then you take him out, I’m very curious about what that is, With him being a person who spends so much time inside, though, it really starts to challenge me as an actor and as a human being to ask myself, ‘Who am I spending my time with? Where’s my energy going? What’s important to me? What do I give value? And how does that connect with my own identity?'”

Severance Season 2 airs new episodes exclusively on Apple TV+.
