With an air of mystery and a compelling sense of duty, Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin in The Mandalorian is one of the more revered Star Wars characters. Pascal portrayed the iconic role during the three seasons of the Disney+ series. One of the key features of the character is his limited dialogue.
While discussing Din Djarin’s fewer lines in the series, Carl Weathers, who portrays the role of Greef Karga, shared that Pascal's character in the Star Wars universe comes with a shroud of secrecy, and therefore, the number of words does not define the intensity of the character. He explained in an interview with Collider in 2020,
“… there is something about him that is very ancient in a way. Even though we are talking about whatever the future is. But there is something about that character that’s very ancient in his monk-like ways, you know moving from town-to-town, from village-to-village, from universe-to-universe, from planet-to-planet, whatever that thing is doing.”
He continued to share his observation
“Why would he say a lot. He is an observer and he responds. And he has a course of action based on the little one that he has kind of adopted. So I just find it the character to be one of the kind of seminal characters, there is in every genre, that you know it is dramatic in its own way, he is a lone wolf, you know and it’s a beautiful thing. Why would he say anything."
Gina Carano, who portrays the role of Cara Dune in the Star Wars series, also chimed in while looking at Pascal,
“You are so stoic and powerful and mysterious…I think that’s what we loved about Boba Fett right? Like we loved that the mystery of a bounty hunter… like you are just… powerfully stoic and quiet."
The Disney+ hit series from the Star Wars franchise, The Mandalorian, premiered in November 2019. The show was created by Jon Favreau.
Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian
Pedro Pascal first adorned the famed warrior helmet in Season 1 of The Mandalorian in 2019. The story follows a bounty hunter, Din Djarin, who travels through the galaxy. He is hired by the now fallen Imperial forces to get a child called Din Grogu, a member of a species similar to the sage character in Star Wars, Yoda. Instead, Din Djarin decides to turn into a sort of guardian for the child, hoping to reunite it with his own kind.
Future of The Mandalorian
Pascal will return as the heavily armoured Din Djarin in the much anticipated Jon Favreau’s upcoming Star Wars movie The Mandalorian & Grogu. The movie is currently under development and is slated to premiere on the big screen on May 22, 2026. The plot of the movie is still under wraps, but it is expected to pick up from where season 3 of The Mandalorian left off.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight while promoting the The Mandalorian series, Pascal quipped about continuing to portray the role,
“...as long as they keep writing it!”
