Vanderpump Rules Season 12: Everything we know so far

Vanderpump Rules is back, and it's back with a plot twist that’s more dramatic than any "Scandoval;" Bravo announced on November 26th that Vanderpump Rules is getting a complete cast makeover for its 12th season.

That's right – the show that brought us iconic moments like "He's a damn good DJ" and "It's not about the pasta" is saying goodbye to its original troublemakers. The only familiar face sticking around is the queen bee herself, Lisa Vanderpump, who'll be mentoring a fresh batch of SUR-vers ready to stir up drama in West Hollywood.

The announcement came as a shock to the OG cast members – Tom Sandoval, Scheana Shay, Katie Maloney, Tom Schwartz, Ariana Madix, James Kennedy, and Lala Kent – who got just 24 hours' notice before the news went public. Talk about a shift change nobody saw coming!

Why did Bravo make this big change for Vanderpump Rules Season 12?

It turns out "Scandoval" did more than just break Ariana's heart – it broke the whole show's dynamic. Sources close to production spilled the tea that nearly two years after the infamous Sandoval-Raquel affair, the group is still giving each other the cold shoulder, "stuck in their feelings and refusing to bend."

Bravo executives, probably tired of watching the same drama rehashed, decided it was time to hit the reset button. And no, it wasn't about the money, – the decision was made before salary negotiations even began, as it appears. The network is hoping to take the show back to its roots when SUR was more than just a backdrop for cast fights.

What can we expect from Season 12 and where are the OGs headed?

While Bravo is keeping their cards close to their chest, they've promised a new crew of "close-knit SUR-vers who are as complicatedly involved with one another as their iconic predecessors." for the new season of Vanderpump Rules. (Translation: They've found a fresh batch of beautiful people ready to make questionable life choices on camera.) Production is set to begin in 2025, giving Lisa plenty of time to perfect her disappointed-but-not-surprised face for the new cast's antics.

The original cast of Vanderpump Rules is spreading their wings faster than you can say "It's all happening."

Lala Kent is living her best mom life with two daughters (Ocean and Sosa) and is already eyeing baby number three. She'll also be appearing on The Valley alongside Schwartz, Scheana, and Brock Davies.

Ariana Madix might continue her hosting gig on Love Island USA (Season 7), declaring she wants to "host this show until I die" – now that's commitment! She's also fresh off her Broadway run as Roxie Hart and has a DSW collection, proving there is life after Scandoval.

Tom Sandoval is trading SUR drama for The Traitors Season 3, while his business venture Schwartz & Sandy's is closing its doors (pour one out for the questionable lighting choices).

James Kennedy is focusing on his DJ career, while Schwartz is launching a podcast called Detox / Retox.

Scheana Shay is keeping busy with her podcast Scheananigans and releasing music – including a screamo remix of "Good As Gold" that absolutely nobody asked for but everyone secretly needed.

For those feeling nostalgic, Bravo's throwing us a bone with a Vanderpump Rules Season 11 retrospective special, promising to revisit all the "heartbreaks, friendship rifts, and scandals" that made us fall in love with these messy individuals in the first place.

Production for Vanderpump Rules Season 12 is set to begin in 2025.
