Unstable completed production and premiered Season 2 on Netflix on August 1, 2024. Season 2 will continue the quirky and dramatic story of the real-life father-son duo of Ellis (Rob Lowe) and Jackson Dragon (John Owen). The second season will pick up right where the first season left off.
The story revolves around Ellis Dragon, a biotech genius and CEO of his Dragon Corporation, whose life is turned upside down after the death of his wife. He doesn't seem to care much about his responsibilities.
It is not just grief that he feels, but something more, which is when Anna Bennet (Sian Clifford) sends Malcolm (Aaron Brach) to bring his son Jackson to save his father from disaster.
At the beginning of Season 1, we see that Jackson is not interested in following in his father's footsteps, which is why he lives miles away from his dad. But now in Season 2, we understand that Jackson has a change of mind when Ellis sets up a series of challenges to check Jackson’s capability to inherit Dragon Industries.
In season 2, Ellis will also face a new set of problems that come along with being an overbearing parent.
Plot of Unstable Season 2
Unstable Season 2 will explore the father-son dynamic in a new light in eight episodes. This time around, Jackson will also be making efforts to succeed his father and stand up to what his father has in mind.
However, given his father's eccentric nature, anything can happen during the search for the new CEO, as Peter (Lamorne Morris) also makes a strong impression on Ellis during the board meeting.
Following the show’s trailer, Ellis' therapist will also return in Season 2.

Will there be a season 3 of Unstable?
Unstable recently returned to the streaming platforms with its new season 2, but fans are already curious to know if the series will return with another new season. So far, Netflix hasn't announced any decision regarding the future.
Given the current storyline involving Ellis' eye on running for the Presidency of the United States, the show can return with an intriguing season 3.
But for now, fans will have to wait and watch to find out what the future holds, as the decision to make season 3 is solely based on the performance of season 2 on the streaming platform.
